Some of these shows are going to have to be very strong to get in multiple nominees. I still have hesitations about all three getting in for The First Lady. The show will definitely be trending on social media more than a lot of others, so that will be an asset.

    5. Juliette Binoche, The Staircase

Going off that trailer it seemed to me like Rosemarie DeWitt is gonna be best in show after Colin Firth and Toni Collette (which is not at all surprising, she’s phenomenal). I really hope she can breakthrough and get some more recognition, she’s so underrated. I also genuinely don’t recall, was Binoche featured in the trailer much?

As long as in for Series (or very clearly 6th), the shows should the no problem getting multiple actors in. In the new voting era (2015 onwards) there’s only been six times that a non-nominated show has gotten multiple acting noms and all of them are fairly explainable.

American Horror Story: Hotel (Bates & Paulson)
American Horror Story: Cult (Porter & Paulson)
The Looming Tower (Daniels & Stuhlbarg)
A Very English Scandal (Grant & Whishaw)
    The Act (King & Arquette)
Hollywood (Pope, Parsons, McDermott & Taylor)

AHS was a previous juggernaut with residual love (and craft support), Looming Tower was the obvious 6th due to its Directing & Casting noms; ditto AVES; Scandal & The Act also had eventual winners in them (and in The Act’s case, Arquette was strong enough to pull King in too) and finally there’s Hollywood, which won two Creative Arts from 6 noms and was the only other non-Watchmen miniseries that year to score double digit noms, a clear 6th place.

DeWitt does look very good in that trailer and she really is overdue recognition (I would have nominated her for Mad Men, dare I say she was even nomination worthy in Little Fires Everywhere). That being said I was struck that she wasn’t credited on the trailer (whilst both Juliette Binoche and Parker Posey, along with Firth and Collette, were). Binoche plays Sophie Brunet who was the editor of The Staircase documentary who fell in love with Michael Peterson (Firth’s character) so between the compelling nature of her role and her being an Academy Award winning actor, I’m assuming there’s enough heft for her to be nomination competitive if the show is a contender.

It is intentional that we didn’t see Binoche that much in the trailer, she plays the editor of the documentary The Staircase who falls in love with Michael Peterson.

    Limited/Movie Actress

    1. Margaret Qualley, Maid
    2. Michelle Dockery, Anatomy of a Scandal
    3. Michelle Pfeiffer, The First Lady
    4. Sienna Miller, Anatomy of a Scandal
    5. Viola Davis, The First Lady
    6. Gillian Anderson, The First Lady

    7. Claire Foy, A Very British Scandal
    8. Julia Garner, Inventing Anna
    9. Amanda Seyfried, The Dropout
    10. Claire Danes, The Essex Serpent

    Interesting.

    I’d go with this:

    1. Margaret Qualley, Maid
    2. Amanda Seyfried, The Dropout
    3. Michelle Pfeiffer, The First Lady
    4. Julia Garner, Inventing Anna
    5. Claire Foy, A Very British Scandal
    6. Gillian Anderson, The First Lady

The line where Viola says “Never lost it” was so uneven that I see her as getting the weakest notices of the three. Anderson is by default although Pfeiffer is the one I see getting in. I think Anatomy Of A Scandal is going The Undoing way and Miller is less loved tha Kidman, so I don’t see her in. Dockery is possible but she seems supporting. Despite the BAFTA snub, I think Foy is in because of the nearness of the release of the show to voting. Seyfried is very firmly in on account of getting a head start over the others and her strong notices. Garner because of visibility, unlimited ballot and that accent.

~Not much active now due to a higher studies course
~still love watching films and television shows
~Everything Everywhere All At Once in all categories.
    ~Currently watching Abbott Elementary
