    The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

    ”City Lights”

    ”Maybe Monica”

    Schmigadoon!

    “Tribulation”

    “With All of Your Heart”

    Nine Perfect Strangers

    ”Crimson Blue”

    Slow Horses

    ”Strange Game”

    This is Us

    ”Forever Now”

    Central Park

    ”You are the Music”

    Queer Eye

    ”Y’all Means All”

    Conversations With Friends

    ”Sidelines”

    Here are some contenders.

I would hope that the message of equity boosts the chances of Miranda Lambert’s fun “Y’all Means All.” I also like “Strange Game.” Mick Jagger hasn’t sounded this good in years.

Right now I am confident voters will nominate “Forever Now” the ballad Rebecca sang at Kate’s wedding. Mandy Moore gave a moving performance of the song co-written by Moore’s husband. The emotions on the faces of the cast only added resonance to a deeply moving moment. This is a strong example of an original song richly embedded in the story, not merely played over credits.

“I’m Tired” (Euphoria) and “Save the City” (Hawkeye) are pretty good bets.

Have a great day if you see this!

“Maybe Monica” will be only Maisel’s only submission this year, per their FYC ads. Not sure about Schmigadoon’s submissions but they have been sending out the sheet music to “Corn Puddin'” (alongside side actual servings of the food) at Apple’s FYC events.

Love “Strange Game” but I believe it’ll submitted to Main Title Theme Music and not Song, same with “Enemy” and “No Return”.

    Conversations With Friends

    ”Sidelines”

Genuinely one of the best songs of the year, period. (As in all recorded music, not just songs from TV).

Same it’s attached to such a mid series.

    Pre-Ballot predictions

    1. “I’m Tired” (Euphoria) – the only song this cycle to be an actual chart, incumbent winner and from one of the most popular overall shows in contention. I will be GOBSMACKED if this misses.

    2. “Save the City” (Hawkeye) – the show could flop everywhere else and I’d still predict this nom to happen. A viral moment in a well watched series, composed by an industry titan that just got namechecked last year for a song that doesn’t exist.

    ———————————————————————————————

    3. “Maybe Monica” (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) – the music branch loves this show and they’ve been actively targeting them, it’s an actual performance and not just a non-diegetic piece/credits number from a show that, at worst, is still top 5 in Series.

    4. “Squid Game” (Saturday Night Live) – SNL tends to oversubmit here (6 songs in the past cycles, each) but it’s one of the shows most popular sketches in recent years (10m on YouTube) and could get caught up in the overall Squid Game love this year.

    5. “This Forever Moment” (This Is Us) – went top ten on iTunes for that’s worth in 2022, Moore is clearly gaining moment for Actress and this musical performance is one of her best showcases. “Memorised” being nominated in the first year of the popular when “We Can’t Always Be Together” and “Invisible Ink” couldn’t under the jury system shows causal voters and the show core base will go for it.

    ———————————————————————————————

    5. “Burn Butcher Burn” – the creative arts sector of industry have surprisingly taken to The Witcher this season after a complete shutout of S1. Whilst this number didn’t obviously penetrate pop culture as much as “Toss a Coin” did, it should still be a familiar enough namecheck in a popular show with creative arts support.

    6. “Mon Solei” (Emily In Paris) – a viral TikTok hit from an incumbent Series nominee, and given its Guild run, should be able to land somewhere between 2-5 noms come July. Don’t see this being any lower than 10th all things considered.

    7. “Little Star” (Euphoria) – one of the most hated television moments of the year but everyone agrees the song itself is perfectly fine.

    ———————————————————————————————

    8. “While You Sleep” (The Fallout) – Finneas namecheck

    9. “Noche Buena” (With Love) – Lin-Manuel Miranda namecheck. Pure and simple. (I actually do like the song though but how many people even know this exists?)

    ———————————————————————————————

    10. “Corn Puddin'” (Schmigadoon!) – assume this will be the shows only submission since it’s what they’ve centred their FYC events (and swag) around. The soundtrack got into a pretty competitive Grammy field of 7 so the awareness is definitely there for it to “surprise” on the day.

    11. whatever they submit (The Afterparty) – will be depend on what and how many songs they actually submit but the trades this season have made sure of this show’s (and specifically the musical episode) awareness this season so not counting it out.

    12. “Wandering Over the Moon” – a actual musical performance from a show that could potentially do well overall, from a composer whose destined for an industry award breakthrough eventually.

    13. “What’s the Use” (Insecure) – no idea which Insecure songs will be submitted, keeping this one as a placeholder since it was prominently featured a number of streaming playlists for a few months after its debut.

    ———————————————————————————————

    14. “North Star” (Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas) – very possible Harvey’s name alone got “Crimson Red” over the nom hurdle last year and without him I’m not confident at all in this getting in. Do most Zoey fans even know about it’s existence given it’s an end credits number?

    15. “Together All the Way” (Dear White People) – it’s gotten the Guild noms that it needs but I’m just not confident in it being known enough to survive a popular vote.

    ———————————————————————————————

    16. “Change” (We the People) – her Grammy nominated song from that no1curr Disney+ movie missed last year but the industry is clearly in love with H.E.R., so can’t not include her.

    17. “The Rose Song” (High School Musical) – Rodrigo catapulted to industry darling in record time over the past 18 months so this potential nom could really only be a namecheck and makeup for missing “All I Want” two years ago.

    18. “Watch Me” (The Sound) – again, not sure which song will be submitted (if any) but Mark Ronson is an industry titan and a namecheck wouldn’t surprise me one bit. Down this low due to Apple pushing other contenders more.

    ———————————————————————————————

    19. “Sidelines” (Conversations with Friends) – unlikely to happen but wanted to give it a mention since it’s one of only a handful of songs in contention that wouldn’t be embarrassing if it came on when you’ve got the aux cord.
