I think we can agree that the Emmys have a problem to just keep on giving their favourite shows excessive nominations and wins even if the quality is inferior to other shows or to that particular shows’ previous seasons.
Which shows/performances do you think overstayed their welcome at the Emmys? And what’s the reason?
EDIT: One season overperformance will also count.

All deserved
And Jodie Comer won one emmy.
ReplyCopy URLApril 19, 2022 at 8:10 pm #1204924333This is a really random one (that I know I’ve mentioned bothers me in other threads) but the threepeat for Marvelous Mrs Maisel in Music Supervision was so unnecessary and boring. The category had only existed for a year before it started dominating. It’s quite a competitive category every year full of deserving winners for such an underrated aspect of TV but you wouldn’t know from looking at its history.

Modern Family didn’t need 5 winsI think 3 for both Game Of Thrones and Modern Family would have been justified. 5 for Modern Family makes me wonder how many coattails it would have gotten under this current system. Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen would have gotten 4 wins on the bounce, something like Peter Dinklage.
ReplyCopy URLApril 19, 2022 at 9:09 pm #1204924366Modern Family winning five times in a row is the clearest example for me. It’s a little boring to have something win that many times in a row but I could have lived with it if the show was deserving. It’s third season win was questionable and winning for seasons four and especially five was unconscionable.

Definitely. A Black Lady Sketch Show should have started winning it’s trophies.
ReplyCopy URLApril 19, 2022 at 9:58 pm #1204924399I agree that Modern Family winning 5 times was way too much (especially since

The thing is, Dinklage deserved 4 Emmys, just half of his were from the wrong seasons.

Sarah Hyland absolutely would’ve happened at least one time (I’d personally nominate her over Bowen for S4). Maybe Winter as well. Can’t see either Gould or Rodriguez getting in unless Burrell (or someone) moved to lead or it was a field of 8 instead of a field of 5.
I could see Banks, Devine, Lane and Riggle would’ve happened in Guest for every eligible season they appeared in.
