I think we should keep a close eye on Paris Barclay he is a respected director and every TV show he directs he gets a dga or Emmy nom we should keep him at mind

- The Last of UsJanuary 26, 2022 at 6:14 pm #1204752168Please let this year be the end of the multi-cam rule in comedy directing. Last year’s tie should be all the proof they need that it’s just name-checking.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 26, 2022 at 8:44 pm #1204752434The multi-cam slot is interesting. I had How I Met Your Father getting it due to visibility but then the audience and critical reviews to it dropped. B-Positive could hold on to it but right now I’m leaning towards Kevin Can F*** Himself. I don’t think any of these multi-cam contenders that have been on air post the endings of The Big Bang Theory/Will and Grace have even been getting many votes and whilst the show had a lukewarm response and isn’t getting anything else, it does feel like it made enough noise and attracted enough visibility for AMC to renew it and it’s not as if anyone outright hated it.

January 26, 2022 at 9:49 pm #1204752521The season premiere of United States of Al did gather some attention (due to written in the US’s evacuation of Afghanistan), given how Mark Cendrowksi is the reason the multi-cam rule exists, I can see this episode being taking the slot this year.

January 27, 2022 at 2:48 am #1204752762Succession only submitted two episodes to Director for S2 (their eventual two nominees), will they do the same this time around or will DGA inspire HBO to go all out?

Possible. But I doubt they get more than three nominations in the category with the television academy’s branch being more selective than the guild and both Ozark and Squid Game being eligible.

There’s been a pandemic and Atlanta, Barry and Station Eleven all shot at the same time in three different countries this year so I imagine the circumstances weren’t there.

January 27, 2022 at 4:55 am #1204752900I think HBO would submit a maximum of 3 episodes from Succession to ensure a greater chance for nominations for all 3 while also ensuring there is a chance for a win (although if Ozark/Squid Game has only one nominee, the chances to win for Succession diminish greatly).
