Holy shit- it’s been so long since season one that I had forgotten…Zendaya is so goddamn good in this role.January 25, 2021 at 1:21 pm #1204001252
Gave Hunter Schafer all of the Emmys.January 25, 2021 at 4:58 pm #1204001551
The Jules episode definitely felt closer to a regular episode of “Euphoria” than the Rue episode, but thankfully retained many of that episode’s best qualities while still feeling of its own. I think the deeper exploration of Jules not only proved her value to the show and the necessity of another standalone episode, but also proved that the show can certainly succeed without Rue in the driver’s seat. After the season one finale, it kind of seemed like that could be an option, but these two standalone episodes seem to have resolved those cliffhangers and “reset” the stage going into season two. I thought Hunter Schafer was just great, and I’m excited for her future in the industry beyond “Euphoria,” especially with a co-writing credit here. Apparently Sam Levinson said in an interview that shooting starts in March and they’re going to try to get the season out by the end of the year, so we still have a while to go, but I thought these episodes definitely did the necessary house cleaning that otherwise would’ve been forced into the first episode of season two or even, in the matter of further exploring the psychology of the main characters, never happened at all. With such an abrupt shift in tone, it will be interesting to see the show elevate back to its sensory overload, but knowing that Levinson, Zendaya and Schafer are capable of this should certainly set the show up to continue to take big risks in the future, a tall order for one of the most audacious shows on TV.July 26, 2021 at 5:26 pm #1204364593
Doniella Davy (euphoria makeup artist) gave a recent interview for allure magazine where she reveals that the glitter makeup will not be being used in the second season of euphoria.

The new year scene was so beautiful. The cinematography of this episode is award winning. Really glad Euphoria is back.January 10, 2022 at 3:18 pm #1204713684
“The “Euphoria” Season 2 premiere drew 2.4 million viewers across HBO and HBO Max, a series high for the Zendaya-led drama, according to WarnerMedia.
The “Euphoria” premiere marked “the strongest digital premiere night performance for any episode of an HBO series since the HBO Max launch and a series-record more than double the Season 1 premiere.”
HBO also stated that digital viewing had an uptick more than nine times higher than the Season 1 premiere and nearly four times higher than the Season 1 finale.”

This was way too much, as is the nature of this show, but for whatever reason despite it largely working for me in Season 1 in this episode I was kinda just over it. Maybe its because of the drug dealing focus of this episode with Fez, who is a character I really like but not one who I really needed to learn more about. I hope this show stays an excessive teen drama and doesn’t become a crime series- that’s not what made me fall in love with it and the tone works a whole lot less in that setting than it did in the high school hallways. Anyways, Zendaya and Hunter still great, Sydney Sweeney devouring. I wonder how much Demie will have to do this season without Nate, she felt like the season 1 MVP but for some reason I get the sense her and Barbie take the backseat this season.January 11, 2022 at 5:40 am #1204714806

I felt like this was an episode in two halves, I found the first half just a bit meh, second part picked up. I didn’t really need the Fez stuff either.
I think the stuff in the reviews about Levinson’s direction and the visual language being a bit self indulgent fairly valid.January 11, 2022 at 6:57 am #1204714959

Decided to hop on the Euphoria hype and wow did not expect Zendaya to be this good at acting.

This show has lost it. The S2 premiere was an assault, too much for its own good (which is saying a lot). So much gratuitous violence, sex, swearing etc. And yeah, the cinematography is gorgeous, but this show is the most obvious offender of style over substance. I fear for this season.January 15, 2022 at 4:48 pm #1204730369
Season 2 definitely has great numbers.January 16, 2022 at 9:44 pm #1204733089

It’s so funny reading all the comments on the first couple of pages on this thread and how everyone thought this show was gonna be terrible and how Zendaya wasn’t going to be able to pull it off.Not now
