I take back what I said yesterday. That’s quite a decent slate of nominees.

Plenty have actually done it. A minority of course but still more than I expected

ReplyCopy URLDecember 13, 2021 at 11:39 am #1204652445Is it just me or did you all also think that the Golden Globes had a better lineup in both film and television (barring a few snubs) than the Critics Choice?
In film most certainly (that goes without saying when the Critics Choice nominated Jared Leto). The television lineup I’d probably say is on par. The Globes made some really good choices this year (BARANSKI!!!) but the Critics Choice still nominated The Other Two and Yellowjackets.

I would assume so. An interesting choice given they happily posted all about them last year when all of the TV actresses were white.
ReplyCopy URLDecember 13, 2021 at 11:49 am #1204652506The fact that both GG and CC noms came out the same day was a blessing in disguise for the HFPA as it highlighted exactly why GG are an absolute necessity for the Oscar season.
ReplyCopy URLDecember 13, 2021 at 11:54 am #1204652535I just realized they snubbed the second season of Emily in Paris.

Forget Squid Game and Selena Gomez, THIS should make headlines.

And they’re doing FIXED reactions thread for the Critics Choice, which had mostly white nominees (only Will, Denzel, Ellis and Sidney were POC)
ReplyCopy URLDecember 13, 2021 at 12:29 pm #1204652646We all know the industry will forgive Golden Globes in a couple of years or so and Golden Globes winner will still get to brag about their wins… So acting as if Golden Globes are suddenly “nothing” and “don’t matter” is pure hypocrisy.
ReplyCopy URLDecember 13, 2021 at 12:37 pm #1204652677I thought these were pretty good for the most part. The Gomez snub is kind of criminal though, especially considering who was nominated instead of her. Macfadyen should 100% be here as well. I guess the Globes just prefer Culkin’s performance since he’s gotten in for all three seasons.
I feel so vindicated by Dever’s nomination! I’ve been saying since Dopesick first premiered that she’s Emmy worthy and that she’ll get nominated, so to see her show up at Critics Choice and the Globes feels so good lol. If she manages to get in at SAG, I think we should be talking about her as a potential winner at the Emmy’s. The role is that baity and she’s that good.
Still, Snook NEEDS to win that category though.
ReplyCopy URLDecember 13, 2021 at 12:39 pm #1204652688Surprising nominations. Dopesick is becoming big, I got the idea from the ballots. The White Lotus is divisive but it missing series here and at the critics awards is not good. Good to see Jean, Short and Martin. Mare of easttown did poorly, a surprise. Jessica is having a great run. The globes nominated morning show which is awful, succession which is good. Happy to see Christine.

And for snivelling Mark fucking Duplass who was one of the worst things about The Morning Show season 2. Fuming.
