    This lineup feels way too obvious, the HFPA will throw a curve ball here, feeling it.

    I can see one of Wednesday and Reboot replacing OMITB. Both getting in would be even more chaotic but not surprising for these people. Abbott and The Bear are the only locks in comedy.

    A Negroni. Sbagliato. With Prosecco in it.

    I can totally see The Bear getting nominated in drama. It wouldn’t shock me one bit like how Einbinder didn’t shock me too last year.

    FYC:
    The HBO darlings everywhere (The Last of Us, Succession, The White Lotus, Perry Mason, White House Plumbers, Love & Death);
    The Apple gang (Bad Sisters, Slow Horses, Shrinking, Ted Lasso, Black Bird);
    Poker Face, The Great, The Bear, Evil (especially Katja Herbers) and The Good Fight.

    Please! These gays, they're trying to murder me!

    Could be because that Actor in a Drama series category feels so empty. I don´t consider neither Considine nor West strong contenders for being nominated. I actually have John C. Reilly in my predictions because of the weakness of the category. I feel HFPA will surprise with one nominee here.

    It has already been said here about how The Bear competing in comedy is category fraud but honestly I think FX is going to come to regret it as a strategy decision by the end of the winter awards season. In comedy the show its going to have a hard time against Abbott Elementary but in drama with how much of a vacuum there feels like there is there right now it would probably stand a strong chance at winning both actor and series over Better Call Saul, The Crown, House of the Dragon and Severance with how much buzz and passion there is behind it that the other aforementioned shows seem like they could be lacking in some form right now. CCA, WGA and even PGA also probably wouldn’t have been as far out of reach for it as they are going to be now. Likewise at the Emmys it doesn’t look like FX really have a strong push in drama outside of The Old Man (which seems to be nothing more than an acting play) whilst they already have What We Do in the Shadows as a contender in comedy and their push for The Bear there could very well hurt their chances of getting two series nominees they would have gotten had they pushed the show in drama.

    I mean I’m not complaining. Better Call Saul and Severance are two of my favourite shows of the year and I’d love to see them receive the recognition they were robbed of at the Emmys. But just from a point of awards strategy FX’s gamble feels baffling.

    FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

    The only part of The Bear I think is safe/a lock is Jeremy Allen White.

    Is Weird not eligible as TV movie? Or is just no one really expecting it to get nominated?

    The latter, it’s in the predictions center.
    I had it and Radcliffe for a while but dropped it, don’t be surprised if they pop up tho.

    If Wednesday had debuted like three weeks earlier I’d have way more confidence in it at the Globes and SAG.

    I get why Netflix wanted Wednesday as Thanksgiving holiday week programming but it would been excellent lead up to Halloween programming as well.

    I think this is interesting. The industry talking about the future of the Golden Globes and how they think if the show next year does well it probably will survive. So maybe the HFPA might go for more popular names and TV and movies where they can this year to try to capture more eyeballs. Or maybe they don’t.

    I think there’s a fine line here. My general feeling is if they lean in to the “global” part of Golden Globes and choose well liked things that have travelled well and resonate with people from different walks of life, that’s great. Everything does not have to align with what American critics proclaim to be worthy.

    Three actresses from TWL in supporting is probably pushing it, but that category is such a wasteland and TWL has never been buzzier. I didn’t feel good about predicting anyone else so I went with someone who’s show we know is at least being seen.

    I think my justification for predicting Fahy (alongside Plaza and Coolidge who both feel like solid bets) is that the only alternatives I could really imagine there being were people like Binoche and it just wouldn’t make sense to predict them without predicting their shows to also be able to get something else. I had considered the possibility of The Staircase over-performing here almost like Catch-22 did (there’s something about it that feels very European and I don’t know about anywhere else but it felt like the noise was much bigger over here than it was in the US when it aired) but it has just been performing so dismally since the Emmys and the temperature in the room makes me feel like if there is any show that has a surprise renaissance here after under-performing/being blanked at the Emmys it probably is The Offer.

    Nice to see someone jumping on board the Claes Bang train! I had considered predicting him just because the field was so weak and Bad Sisters seems to be accelerating in buzz but I didn’t want to go all out for the show in my predictions (both in order to just deal with my score diplomatically and in order to avoid my excitement at the possibility of the show doing well turning into disappointment if it doesn’t). That supporting actor category is just so thin right now and whilst I don’t know whether I’d necessarily nominate him personally it would just be a whole lot better than some of the other options being tipped there right now lol.

    FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

    Oh, I’m glad I’m not alone in predicting Fahy along with Plaza and Coolidge. I know it’s more of an Emmys thing to do – nominating more than 2 people from one show in the same category but, like you touched upon, the alternatives just aren’t that convincing. A lot of the shows that were nominated at the Emmys (for at least an acting award or two) but didn’t win, and are eligible here, just feel pretty buzzless. I’m sort of thinking why the Globes would bother? I’m also taking into consideration the fact that TWL is huge right now and is airing while voting took place. It would just be so random to see someone like Binoche over Fahy. It obviously could happen, but I’m leaning towards it not.

    And yeah, I’m going overboard on Bad Sisters too but it feels like such a Globes show to me. I also think the supporting categories in general are going to be pretty chaotic lol, so why not the showy villain from a buzzy show getting in. Bang is also a big name internationally.

    Regardless, I think the nominations will be verrrry interesting. I just hope it’s not boring lol.
