Yeah, wouldn’t it go under comedy, as per the episode lengths? I’m not sure how it works, so I’d love clarity on this.

My understanding of the current rules is that a half hour drama can run at the Globes and the Emmys, but not at SAG – it will have to run in comedy there – so FX would have to forsake alignment in Emmy precursors to do so. I don’t think CCA care.

Do we have confirmation Wednesday will go to comedy ?

    I haven’t heard anything about a potential season 2.

There’s no real indication in their promotion it’s limited and they tend to not take on IP like that short term.

I’d say all signs point to comedy – Angelica Huston was nominated for the 90s Movies in Musical/Comedy, Zeta-Jones and Ricci have previously had Musical/Comedy nominations, young actresses tend to have better luck running there instead of drama, and Ricci and Christie are both Emmy nominees under this system in dramas that will be submitted in this round, which isn’t ideal.

There’s a strong likelihood Dead to Me is too strong in lead to give Ortega space in terms of Netflix productions so the “in” here is a supporting nomination instead.

but not at SAG – it will have to run in comedy there –

I don’t think this is correct. Homecoming ran in drama at SAG in spite of being a half hour series.

Speculation is it won’t premiere until 2023 (they are still filming and may be into late September/early October). I think at this point predict winter awards without Lasso.

Considering they’re female and playing a woman, it’s pretty safe to assume they’re gonna compete in supporting actress

Once there was only Dark. If you ask me, the Light's winning.

I think the rules have changed. In the SAG rules this is what is stipulated and there is reference to changes made during the pandemic:

Comedy Series: a thirty (30) minute scripted program (with
a minimum twenty-one (21) minutes of actual programming
content) with an ongoing theme and storyline in a minimum
of four (4) continuous episodes* and marketed as a comedy
    series.

Drama Series: a sixty (60) minute scripted program (with
a minimum of forty-two (42) minutes of actual programming
content) with an ongoing theme and storyline in a minimum
    of four (4) continuous episodes.

Unless these have been brought in after this year’s ceremony I’m pretty sure these are guidelines as opposed to firm rules on eligibility (like what the Emmys have, or at least until this year had, with shows having to petition to submit in comedy if they were hour long and vice versa). Just this year In Treatment competed in drama in spite of being a half hour series and The Great was noninated twice in comedy in spite of being an hour long dramedy. Likewise we’ve had multiple instances in the past two years of half hour dramedies (as opposed to half hour dramas like The Bear is) competing in drama at SAG as opposed to comedy due to their producers submitting them there like I Hate Suzie.

FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

Fair! This said this was for the 2021 ceremony.
Have they actually indicated they’ll submit in drama?
