I would say Jenna feels more likely to win than gets snubbed at this point considering the buzz for the show.
For some perspective on her Wikipedia search using Zendaya as a control.
The rest of the cast is also 9 of the 10 spots on IMDB this week, which is very hard to achieve.
December 5, 2022 at 4:09 am #1205178454I’m considering Ortega even at SAG now.
FYC:
The HBO darlings everywhere (The Last of Us, Succession, The White Lotus, Perry Mason, White House Plumbers, Love & Death);
The Apple gang (Bad Sisters, Slow Horses, Shrinking, Ted Lasso, Black Bird);
Poker Face, The Great, The Bear, Evil (especially Katja Herbers) and The Good Fight.Please! These gays, they're trying to murder me!

Yeah, so am I.
I saw a few bits of CCXP on my timeline and she seemed quite overwhelmed, as much as she’s been a child actor I don’t really think big public events full of screaming people is in her wheelhouse.
It is probably good she’s got Christina on call and someone like Gwendoline in her cast who gets crazed fandoms because that is the sort of level where people get unhinged very quickly.
December 5, 2022 at 5:06 am #1205178491I have a feeling that Euphoria will underperform. Zendaya’s lead actress nom doesn’t feel like a lock to me.

I feel like something just generally completely not on our radar’s going to happen.

Euphoria in Best TV Series over Pachinko?
December 5, 2022 at 8:36 am #1205178803I have a feeling that Euphoria will underperform. Zendaya’s lead actress nom doesn’t feel like a lock to me.
I feel the other way. I’m predicting Sydney and Series with her.
December 5, 2022 at 9:44 am #1205178940Wednesday seems to be popular with young audiences but does that ever really translate to mainstream awards? Euphoria is kind of the exception that proves the rule, and it was going into awards season with better reviews (81% vs 71% on RT and 70 vs 66 on metacritic), a more adult audience, and a much more “prestige” genre (drug addiction drama vs family IP fantasy show). Wednesday seems more like the type of show that would get shunted to kids and family emmys like Heartstopper honestly.
December 5, 2022 at 10:16 am #1205179006Perhaps I’m overthinking it but I have to say between how much industry support it seems to have, how big an audience hit it seems to be and now how much the critics have taken to it and how much Apple are campaigning for it I’m really tempted to slot Bad Sisters into my drama series predictions. There’s something about it that already felt a bit Golden Globesy to me (I had Horgan in already) and now it looks like it has quite a visible amount if support. The only problem is it also reminds me of Yellowjackets and I can see it getting shut out here due to lack of visibility and only getting in at WGA and CCA.
FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.
December 5, 2022 at 2:51 pm #1205179269Tomorrow I will be posting my final predictions for Limited Series, but I have an interesting question for people here:
Are we underestimating The Offer for getting a nomination for Limited Series?
I mean, in the past years; they nominated shows that were not critically acclaimed like The Morning Show and The Loudest Voice, but they are all about media, this year there is a show that was not critically acclaimed but was well received by people and is about the making that one of the best movies of the history of the cinema.
So, I´m not suggesting that it will be nominated, just asking question about what people think about this.December 5, 2022 at 3:28 pm #1205179296Perhaps I’m overthinking it but I have to say between how much industry support it seems to have, how big an audience hit it seems to be and now how much the critics have taken to it and how much Apple are campaigning for it I’m really tempted to slot Bad Sisters into my drama series predictions. I’ve been going back and forth with it in series (I also have Horgan in already). Yellowjackets might be a good comparison but that was really late (November), whereas Bad Sisters premiered in August.
I’m finding drama series in general hard to predict.
December 5, 2022 at 3:48 pm #1205179320a more adult audience, and a much more “prestige” genre (drug addiction drama vs family IP fantasy show). Wednesday seems more like the type of show that would get shunted to kids and family emmys like Heartstopper honestly.
I had similar thoughts pre-release, but the demo for the series is counterintuitively quite old (considerably older than Euphoria) and the show is a hit in some magnitude over Heartstopper. It’s popular on TikTok because it’s just really popular, period. There’s a promo video with 17 million views from last week on Facebook.
The release date and the broadness/lack of prestige is more an issue than it being a Gen Z thing IMHO. The critical response is fair, but those scores are almost identical to Season 5 of The Crown and far better than Dahmer.
December 5, 2022 at 4:10 pm #1205179346Not related to the globes, but if the Emmys do want to at least continue to have the minimum amount of relevancy, they shouldn’t just throw everything Gen-Z related to the Family & Kids Emmy.
Look at how Zendaya brought a new fresh audience with her, it needs to happen more.

This. I first discovered what the Emmys/awards season was because of Glee.
