There’s usually always one per year (Madden, Youseff, Thornton, Ellis-Ross, Gaga, Tierney)
All iconic wins!
FYC:
"The Good Fight", "The Other Two" and "Station Eleven" in all categories, Sarah Lancashire ("Julia"), William Jackson Harper ("Love Life") and Luke Kirby ("The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel")
November 12, 2020 at 4:26 am #1203831140I have to ask this at this point is Schitt’s Creek even getting nominated for Series at the Golden Globes? It’s a fantastic show and yes it just swept the Golden Globes but other than a “let’s not underestimate twice” thing what else has it got going for it. The HFPA have never liked the show as evidenced by them snubbing it whilst going for The Politician and after its Emmy haul Schitt’s Creek no longer has the “underdog that could” narrative going for it. Then you have other shows that are looking to start their runs and arguably have more things going for them. Ted Lasso is one of them, The Great is another, Pen15 and Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist are possible and I Hate Suzie too. It’s also worth mentioning that some HFPA members were literally moaning about Schitt’s Creek‘s Emmys sweep on Twitter with some saying “Am I watching the Emmys or Schitt’s Creek” and that “the comedy categories were boring”.
It could very well end up just being (an acclaimed) GoT s8 and just get one or both of Levy and O’Hara in.

November 12, 2020 at 4:30 am #1203831144Schitt’s Creek is a weird one where I wouldn’t be surprised if it was shut out but also wouldn’t bat an eyelid if it got 5 nominations. Currently being boring and going bang in the middle by predicting three nods.

Same here I am predicting three nods (only not predicting a Comedy Series nod in my GD odds predictions just because I have such good odds on Dead to Me but I’ll probably drop D2M from my series predictions closer to the Globes).
I do think E. Levy is in though. At worst he’s the Kit Harrington of this year.

November 12, 2020 at 5:34 am #1203831200Dunst stans are still pressed at the win of Oscars nominated actress Gaga so yes, it’s iconic.
November 12, 2020 at 5:58 am #1203831245I Hate Suzie starts with a 91 on Metacritic. Get those still low odds on the show and Piper while you can, she can total pull a Madden type win here.
she’s getting it. I’m not sure why people here have been underestimating it.

Well, considering Dunst delivered one of the best TV performances of the last decade, her stans should definitely be pissed over the fact she got overlooked for a Razzie worthy performance.

None lol, it’s just me trolling
But her manager did comment under Murphy’s announcement, so I’d wouldn’t rule her out.

November 12, 2020 at 8:17 am #1203831574LOL we are discussing live ratings in 2020?
Also, people may have been slightly preoccupied with *other things* last week and didn’t feel the urgency to watch an HBO drama on Sunday night. Just a thought.
Not saying it’s some massive hit but I think one can get lost looking too deeply into the tea leaves.
Who knows what happens Emmys-wise but I’d say it has strong chances at the Globes for series, actor, actress, and maybe supporting actor (but those categories are always super weird so who knows).
I agree with whoever previously said that Anya Taylor-Joy and Queen’s Gambit are likely taking actress and series anyway.

The election had already been called over a day before. No one was distracted and it’s a weak excuse.

LOL OK. Are you American by any chance? Hard to express how inaccurate this statement is.

American Horror Stories, the episodic anthology spin-off for Hulu will apparently start filming soon. If she comes back for that (I imagine she would given her manager’s IG comments & her schedule not allowing for a full season), she probably get a Emmy guest nod, now that’s she’s a “respectable actress” (Cher, 1987).
Unpopular opinion but her performance as The Countess was fantastic, it’s exactly what the character needed. Larger than life almost myth like figure who could crush you like a fly. And she was also great in Roanoke too but nobody even remembers she was in that.
