I hope Nathan Lane wins.
He has been nominated four times previously for Modern Family and The Good Wife and his work on Only Murders In The Building was incredible. It switched from sympathetic to villainous in the course of an episode.

May 21, 2022 at 5:19 am #1204958904I don’t understand the confidence in Fey either. She literally missed last year for Girls5eva, playing Dolly Parton, so it’s not like her namecheck abilities are that good. And she did nothing in Only Murders. If anyone gets in for the show, that person is Jane Lynch.

She mostly likely isn’t happening. Curb has been flopping lately with their guest hopefuls.

May 21, 2022 at 4:51 pm #1204959536It is inaccurate to say that Tina Fey is not an Emmy darling (never mind that she’s even less of one than someone like Jane Lynch who was dropped after 2 seasons for both of her Emmy winning performances). Fey has been nominated 7 times in this category alone (only Cloris Leachman has more with 8 nominations) and has won twice in this category. She has a further 7 acting nominations and 1 win in other categories. She missed for Girls5Eva but that was a programme that very few people outside of the prognosticating/TV lover world watched. Only Murders in the Building was a massive audience hit for Hulu and received 3 SAG nominations. In a field in which there are multiple big name contenders but none in any shows that are as widely seen as Only Murders is, the same voters who gave Claire Foy, Margo Martindale and Cherry Jones Emmy wins for cameos will probably just conflate Fey’s narrative prominence and episode count with her giving a worthy performance when they’re filling out their ballots.

I can see her happening. She is quite a familiar face to these voters and personally as someone who isn’t a viewer of Curb Your Enthusiasm I have heard a lot more chatter about her work than I have with other guests since the revival first happened.
That being said I do wonder if the fact that there are so many recognisable names in this field in shows that are on the fringes of a comedy series nomination might end up having a counter-intuitive effect and the established names in bigger series (Ted Lasso, Only Murders, Hacks) etc and the variety shows (SNL, A Black Lady Sketch Show) might benefit from the divided field.

Plus this year, there are Lenny of people to nominate. Last year, the category was basically barren for choices,
