Based on what we know, it seems that Season 1 will adapt the chapters “A Question of Succession” and “The Black and the Greens”.

Thanks for the answer! So it seems we’ll probably see various casting changes through the seasons.

House of the Dragon’ has officially wrapped filming, but there are no clue when will premiere. With Westworld and White Lotus likely taking up at least 14 sundays of the year, perhaps an october release is plausible.

    Maybe only next year…

With it having been so prominent in HBO’s teasers for the year I’d be surprised if it gets pushed back to 2023. An October premiere makes sense (interestingly enough last October is when we got the first teaser).

I really wanted this to get the Game of Thrones April- May slot. It was excellent for that show’s Emmy prospects.

I do hope that House of the Dragon is a great, popular and well- received show and that it’s also an awards magnet. I really can’t wait to see and stan it to the fullest!

Same. It’s actively dated for 2022, so I’d be surprised if it missed. It might be late 2022, but I don’t think it’ll go to 2023.

It probably wouldn’t hurt them to work on a winter focused campaign. It was never their strength with GoT and they’re entering in to what is a more aggressive field for shows of their type.

They also have a vacuum in their winter schedule with Westworld going to the summer, Succession season 4 not starting shooting until the Summer and The Last of Us going to 2023.

    Yep, that works.

In all seriousness, I hope the show goes well. I really feel like so much of the response to the final season was overblown and if the shows post-Thrones have shown us anything it’s that it’s pretty hard to recreate that level of high-end fantasy on a TV budget. To some extent I do think some of the ensemble dynamics/casting of the original were lightning in a bottle and the absence of Nina Gold casting for this gives me pause, but you can tell from the trailer the quality level remains.

Well to be honest im kind of happy its not going in the same year as Succession, especially this season that took all 5 nominations at the DGA.
I want the first season to achieve at least a little recognition in the above the line categories, hopefully in the directing category after the Sapochnik crime in 2019 Emmys. However it will still be going against Ozark :/

However if it’s going against the Mandalorian there’s a strong change it will lose a lot of the technical categroies, and that’s a bummer. Especially Djawadi for original score, since Gorranson seems to keep winning year after year

On the same subject if it only goes to the next Emmys cycle (which is probably certain) I’d rather have an early 2023 release than a late 2022, since an October release for the show will kill it’s chances at the Emmys IMO

At DGA yes, but Ozark should be finished at 2022 Emmys.

As an aside, if I’m not mistaken all of the ATL OG GoT actresses are in new series this year, so it will be interesting to see who/if any of them can hold on/how much goodwill they derive.

Martin did a post in his blog celebrating the end of filming and he seems very happy/confident about the result.

“I have seen rough cuts of a few of them, and I’m loving them. Of course, a lot more work needs to be done. Special effects, color timing, score, all the post production work.

But the writing, the directing, the acting all look terrific. I hope you will like them as much as I do. My hat is off to Ryan and Miguel and their team, and to our amazing cast.”

I’m just so excited to see Olivia Cooke here because she feels like someone who would fit SO well in the GoT universe.

The media tie-in edition of Fire & Blood comes out on July 12 apparently 👀

Whilst you can never predict the acting and series noms I can see them defaulting straight back to this for techs.

If they’d just wrapped this show, we won’t see this until later this year or next.

This show better change the f****** TV game. My hype is slowly dying for this.

Contrarily to the original GoT, it seems like this show will have a direct competition in the fantasy-epic genre with LOTR: The Rings of Power airing around the same time.
It will be interesting to say the least to see how both of them will fare
