I was quite unclear on just how far we’d jumped ahead. 10 years? Fifteen? Alicents daughter could be 13 or as old as Milly? I am vaguely aware of Ty Tennant being about 20?

they said in the episode it was 10 years.

How dare Olivia Cooke give such a ferocious performance in her debut episode!

Olivia Cooke and Emma D’Arcy are carrying the baton seamlessly. I much as I loved and enjoyed Milly Alcock and Emily Carey the first 5 episodes, I didn’t find myself missing them nearly as much as I thought I would. Olivia Cooke’s performance this episode was my favorite of the season so far.

House of the Dragon will begin filming season two as early as Spring of 2023, returning to the Spanish city of Cáceres!

As reported today by local Spanish newspaper Hoy, the old town of Cáceres will depict King’s Landing yet again in the second season of House of the Dragon, as it has for the first one and as it once did for the last few seasons of Game of Thrones.

HBO will return to Cáceres next spring, from March to June. Of course, that doesn’t mean they will be filming three straight months on the city; the production arrives weeks and sometimes months earlier to make the necessary preparations before any shooting actually takes place; filming is expected to take place around April and May.

I wonder if HBO will desperately try to release the second season until April 2024 so the show doesn’t miss the Emmys for a year.

They had a seventeen month turnaround last time, but they were also filming in the midst of COVID protocols likely being heavier. So it could reduce, but I don’t think that tracks, especially given the state of the VFX situation across the industry.

With the Dance properly starting next season, post production will probably take longer as well so they might just do another summer release.

They’d have been unlikely to invoke it anyway because of leaks, but the lack of ability to use the hanging episode rule make it even harder – the turnaround would need to be about 12 months. That might have been doable in the 2010s but I just feel like there’s ample evidence that’s not going to happen these days

I thought Olivia was great. However, my issue is the writing never really gave her a reason for innocent to so tough now. Only thing was that her kids might not inherit throne. For me, the reason for character to go from caring to hating the princess so much was not sufficient enough

This is one downside of the time jump, is that you miss the tensions between the Queen and Princess really building up over this really long period of time. Basically, Alicent kind of turns against Rhaenyra because she realizes Rhaenyra is a kind of selfish person after she discovers her lie at the end of episode 5, which resulted Alicent’s dad being sent away. This is mostly the beginning, and I assume the tensions only grew worse over ten years.

Also doesn’t help that Rhaenyra can get away with so much (like the not very well kept secret that none of Rhaenyra’s kids are Laenor’s) and have little consequence for her actions.

This is not just about Alicent´s kid (Aegon II) not inheriting the Iron throne.. It´s also the fear that if Rhaenyra becomes Queen, she will kill Alicen´t kids, because they are her competition…  Just look at the last scene between Otto and Alicent.. I bet he has been feeding her with this horific outcome since Aegon´s birth..
