I think Blanchett would have missed out for the massively buzzed Hugh Grant.

I think it’s Coel who would’ve missed out. After all, Blanchett is a SAG favourite.

"The Lost Daughter" in every eligible category - Film
"Succession" Season 3 in every eligible category - TV
"Heaux Tales" by Jasmine Sullivan in every eligible category - Music

The show massively underperfored at guilds and was an afterthought. Even Cate Blanchett is susceptible to a miss for a show the industry apparently didn’t care for that much.

Yeah, it missed PGA but still won WGA. Blanchett is hugely respected in the Industry, it was her first big TV gig and her role was transformative. She literally just got nominated for Nightmare Alley. She wouldn’t have missed.

I mean it had really no competition at WGA besides Hollywood. I do agree that veterans like Blanchett do rarely miss with a baity role but I just can’t think who she’d replace. I think Coel (individual passion), Grant and Kidman (massive show), Ruffalo (Emmy winner) and ATJ (winner) all had better chances at a nomination than her.
