The casting of Edie Falco is ridiculous. It’s just Edie Falco walking around the Impeachment set.

Given how she’s now age appropriate for 90s Hilary. This would’ve been a role that Kirsten Dunst could’ve devoured.

    Oscars FYC:

    "CODA" – in all categories

"Everybody's Talking About Jamie" – Sup. Actor (Richard E. Grant), Sup. Actress (Sarah Lancashire) and Original Song (“This Was Me”)

"King Richard" – Original Song (“Be Alive”)

"Summer of Soul" – Picture, Film Editing and Documentary Feature

“The Green Knight” – in all categories

After a good sixth episode, this is back to ranging from bad to…fine.

My biggest frustration remains how little the show actually focuses on Monica. For an episode entitled The Assassination of Monica Lewinsky, they sure spent a lot of time on the various characters also involved in the story, no matter how big or small a role they played. Instead, I felt this should have been another instance where we’re put into the mind of Monica and sort of live those days/weeks of her life after the public found out about the affair.

Who needs/wants to see Tripp dealing with the aftermath and her watching Goodman play her on SNL? Why would we want to watch Bill struggle with the fact that he lied under oath? Back then, there was clearly a real disservice done to Lewinsky, especially by the media, and I just figured this would be a way to redeem her. Or at least, I felt it should be.

The characterization of Hillary is also ridiculous. They should have just kept her out of the show completely if they were going to barely utilize her. When she finally popped up in this episode, I was like oh that’s right he has a wife.

I’ve liked Clive Owen fine as a very supporting character but it looks like the next episode(s) have him front and center which is not something I’m excited about.

I also think despite me holding on to the possibility of Beanie or Annaleigh the awards chances for this one are probably dead. Sucks because both of those performers deserve a moment but everytime I look at the limited/movie thread I’m astounded at how competitive it is.

Episode Title: “Stand by Your Man”

Synopsis: The president must admit the truth to the nation and to the first lady.

    Discuss.

Honestly same. I feel like a new limited series with a high profile Emmy winning/Oscar winning lead is confirmed to be making eligibility every day lmao.

Edie Falco just gave the best performance on the show. The episode was better than the last one but not as good as the sixth one.

These past three episodes have been fantastic. It’s bittersweet that they’ve arrived near the end of the season, b/c fickle folks who’ve tuned out after the season premiere are sadly missing this. Edith Falco is still THAT BITCH, and I was living! She’s captured Hillary’s steeliness and “coldness” beautifully. I think that alone takes the teeth out of her voice and looks criticisms. Hillary’s essence is clearly there, and then shades of Falco’s “Whitecaps” brilliance at the end sealed the deal. If Emmy voters are still watching the series, then she’s in. They’re also making the case for Clive Owen. I don’t think he’s captured Clinton’s electric charisma well, and I heard his British accent slip in whenever there was a yelling scene. Bill’s slimy calculation and presence shined through where it counted though. Owen’s certainly done more than the coattail nominations of John Travolta, Edgar Ramirez, Ricky Martin, and David Schwimmer. The focus shifting to Monica’s plight has been riveting. Unless something big happens in the finale, I think Beanie’s showcase episode was the FBI interrogation episode. “The Assassination of Monica Lewinsky” was fine, but it’s no “Marcia, Marcia, Marcia.” I was also waiting for the scenes where Linda Tripp reacts to the late-night shows. Sarah Paulson was great in her understated reactions. I remember them vividly. Leno and Letterman were absolutely relentless night after night. I think she said in one of her interviews that the John Goodman impression on “SNL” was amusing, but it was those talk show guys who really got to her. Also, the Tammy Wynette song at the end was wicked lmao. Can’t wait for the last two episodes!

Edie Falco fucking ate the HELL of this episode. Not only did she have one Emmy scene, but she had two of them. It’s obviously early in the cycle, but she could be a threat if the Television Academy is still watching the series and/or love it much more than the critics did initially.

Give Edie Falco tthe nomination now. Paulson has some competition if she is supporting as Linda now. My grade: A+

Why would Paulson suddenly be supporting when this has been more of a Tripp/Paulson show than a Lewinsky/Feldstein show?

And who would do this to Analeigh Ashford (best performance on the show), Judith Light, Mira Sorvino and now apparently Edie Falco?

Not that any of this is happening since it’s still 2021, but come on now.

I love all the performances on the show especially considering after the first episode I thought Sarah Paulson was bad but she definitely grew on me. Obviously it’s no Marcia Clark but she still really has had good moments as Linda Tripp. I do not however find Analeigh Ashford convincing at all as Paula Jones. Her Performance to me is more of a SNL caricature and then am actual breathing human and she is the second worst performance on the show with the absolute worst Performance from the show being Billy Eichner.

beanie is clearly going lead. They probably won’t want a person from her show going against her. Therefore that would leave Sarah and Edie and Amaligh for supporting and I’m can only guess Clive Owen for supporting actor as well (I don’t see him as a lead). But back to Sarah for a minute: I think that they r going to want to push beanie and want to push Sarah and category fraud it since she clearly isn’t getting a nom for ahs after this season. So basically what I’m saying is they r gonna want more faces on more places to add to their awards count and nomination count.

Paulson is very obviously a co-lead on this show IMO. Sure, we are seeing less of her now, but she was more of a lead in the first half than evan Feldstein in some eps. They have enough people to promote in supporting actress. No need to fraud Paulson to that category.
