The second season so far is superb, going beyond what I’ve imagined, outdoing its first season. It’s easily my favorite series of the year. Who else is watching?

They are doing a really good job of building tension and balancing tone. There have already been a few episodes this season that have gone from laugh out loud funny to nail-bitingly tense. However, the plotting and structure of some individual episodes is a bit scattershot. This week’s episode started out strong but had a random GaTa interlude that ended up circling back by episode’s end, but didn’t really thematically blend with the episode’s main story on the Dave-Elz fight. And that’s without mentioning the random scene with Ally that was thrown in toward the beginning of the episode, considering her lack of presence otherwise. Some of that messiness holds back episodes from being really great.
