That gets at why I have Watchmen winning. I think that there is passion for it that these others will not have.

When does the embargo lift on I Know This Much is True?

Wednesday with Hollywood. I thought that HBO would have given the press the finale by now, so you might not see it accounted for in reviews or some critics might wait to publish, with there still being time before the premiere.

Gotcha. Do you like the show thus far or are you not even allowed to say as much?

This embargo covers “reviews” and does not go deeper than that, so who knows? My Emmy predictions were not really affected by watching it. Speaking of miniseries embargoes lifting, I need Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes to account for yesterday’s reviews of The Eddy.

I find it ironic that Mrs America, a show that talks about equality for women, is likely to win the actress awards for being  such a pro-women show while it is the Watchmen female roles that are truly pushing women forward by presenting  three ‘older’ women(King,Smart,Chau) As three very strong unconventional female characters you would never think they would fit in without ever acknowledging that they are doing so well even though they are female. Thatis, I think, better than the female roles in Mrs America which I just kinda feel is more of the same what has been done the last couple of years

All of them (except Paulson) are based on real life people around 50 years ago, so what may look as normal now was pretty ground breaking and unconventional for its time. And I think roles like Gloria Steinem, Shirley Chisholm, Betty Freidan, who were actual people who pushed the envelope in real life, are no less than the women roles of Watchmen, especially someone like Laurie, who contrary to what was said, is a fairly familiar role to me tbh.

Mrs America does have older, strong and unconventional (for its time) female characters and it doesn’t have the liberty to ignore gender related social constructs of its time that a fictional piece of television like Watchmen can, when that’s an important part of its premise.. I think holding any such thing against it is unfair and recognition for either of them would be equally deserved.

Your new profile picture is distractingly cute.

I started Mrs. America last night and I love every second of it. Give Blanchett whatever she wants.

Why do I have a feeling that this might be the year without a clear sweep happening, between Watchmen, Mrs America and Hollywood their might all just contract each other? Unbelievable also has lots of fans and is truly powerful, and there are more recent shows like Defending Jacob which are building hype. I just can’t see any show sweeping nominations

I’m going out on a limb and predicting Janney to win Best Supporting Actress for Bad Education.

Collette and Smart split the early vote passion.

Mrs. America splits votes among of its women, ala Game of Thrones last year.

And a solid group of members vote using their constant respect for Janney, who has the benefit of a short, concise movie that doesn’t require a lot if investment to watch and premiered recently. Bam. she wins.

Is Defending Jacob actually building hype? Because it seems like an absolute non starter.

I’m not sure about “hype“ but its RT and IMDb audience scores are currently very good. And it’s already surpassed Mrs America in terms of number of ratings on the latter.

It’s a non-starter though unless it becomes the talk of the town.

But, in contrast, its critics scores are absolutely abysmal. It currently has a 52% on RT and 60 on Metacritic. Pretty mediocre scores. I’m not saying it will prevent it from receiving nominations. I mean The Alienist and Genius: Picasso managed to do it, but I just don’t think Defending Jacob will be THAT lucky. However, I could see Chris Evans and Jaeden Martell scoring acting nods.

The show’s getting nothing – I wouldn’t even entertain it.

But in answer to your statement of the critics scores, I am aware of those. But I was responding to the discussion of the show’s “hype” which is something the audience decides not the critics (as much as they’d like to).

I’m glad someone nailed it on the head.

    split the early vote passion.

Umm I am pretty sure that is not how a vote split works.

I know it’s getting nothing. I’m not delusional. I just brought up Evans and Martell since their categories are more open. That’s why I didn’t even cared to bring up Dockery. She’s the living definition of DOA.
