I missed a whole period of TV in the last 20 years or so (was off having a good time) and there are some nominated comedies I’ve never even heard of. Can anyone recommend a super well written, utterly funny, not misogynistic or tired tropes, maybe a little dry or dark comedy to sink my teeth into? Any thoughts on Nurse Jackie, Mom, Better Things, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia? Something else? I never watched Curb Your Enthusiasm … have early seasons aged well? Recent stuff I dig is Barry, Fleabag, Pen15, WWDITS, Ted Lasso, etc. Grateful for recommendations.

Best Supporting Actress - Kathryn Hunter, Ann Dowd, Martha Plimpton, Judi Dench, Ruth Negga
Best Supporting Actor - Troy Katsur, Ciarán Hinds, Alex Hassell, Bertie Carvel
    Best Actress - Tessa Thompson
The Tragedy of Macbeth in Directing, Production Design, Cinematography and thee Kathryn Hunter
    Mass in Original Screenplay

The Great - Elle Fanning, Nicholas Hoult and comedy writing

You’re the Worst, Better Things, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Catastrophe, Search Party and American Vandal are all great underrated (and underseen) comedy shows that I recommend not only for you, but for everyone around here

I also stan Couverture’s recommendations, the original run of Arrested Development is the funniest show I’ve seen on TV

Since you said the last 20 years, I will add the following:

    Arrested Development – Seasons 1 – 3
    Parks & Rec
    Ugly Betty

Thanks team, much appreciated. Maybe undersold myself, have seen (and enjoyed) most of these! Maybe not as far behind as I thought. I’ll give Always Sunny, Sex Education, Better Things, Nurse Jackie and The Comeback a whirl. Super appreciated! Need to laugh more.

I watched nearly 2 seasons of Catastrophe and didn’t enjoy it, the insecure nagging woman is such a tired trope, but Rob Delaney is great, would love to see more of him.
