ReplyJune 8, 2022 at 4:54 am #1204975753Allan, do you get the sense this will be the first Marvel show to be brigaded/user score review bombed by the fandom? The discourse is very sad to see.

Sadly yes. The impression I had is that it is the most well-received MCU series by critics after WandaVision and Loki, but even before the premiere I had already seen hundreds of “fans” complaining on Twitter that the series is “woke” or that they doesn’t identify with the main character… the usual nonsense.

Such a pity. Some people do need to realise not every show is made for them.

You might want to have a look at that first. Thankfully, it’s also accessible on Disney+, much like all of the other Marvel movies.

The pilot was delightful.

The supporting characters were great and stood out in little moments. I love the friendship between Kamala and Bruno. I love that we’re seeing the MCU from this perspective. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the series will give us.

ReplyCopy URLJuly 3, 2022 at 5:36 am #1205002650How are people finding the series thus far?
I think it’s been great, and episode four was a lot of fun being in Pakistan.
Potential early bird for Comedy Series perhaps? Iman Vellani could be considered a lead for Comedy Lead Actress.
ReplyCopy URLJuly 3, 2022 at 10:46 am #1205002862You cannot tell me all the hatred and review bombing isn’t atleast partially coming from a place of racism. All the people on Twitter complaining that it’s not “relatable” and “they don’t identify with it” have they ever considered that there are people of other races and religions around the world and not everything has to mirror their singular experience?
Dunno about others but as a desi I really enjoyed watching it and I wish there were some similar representation when I was growing up in movies and tv shows. Also, the pilot was superb.
