    We will be watching Atypical. A two person watch weekly.

    FYC:
    The HBO darlings everywhere (The Last of Us, Succession, The White Lotus, Perry Mason, Somebody Somewhere, White House Plumbers, Love & Death);
    The Apple gang (Bad Sisters, Slow Horses, Shrinking, Ted Lasso, Black Bird);
    Poker Face, The Great, The Bear, Evil (especially Katja Herbers) and The Good Fight.

    Please! These gays, they're trying to murder me!

    74 on MC

    That’s a solid jump, I hope it stays on the 70s

    Excellent premiere. It sets the stage for the rest of the season well, though definitely watch the “previously on” segments to jog your memory on what happened last season. Matthew Rhys hasn’t missed a beat here, and I can already tell that Paul Raci will be must-see as the season villain. The tone was less dour and far less macabre than before. Tatiana Maslany was sorely missed, since she was the wildcard element that gave the series something signature last time around, and now it’s gone. Supporting cast looks otherwise intact with Juliet Rylance, Eric Lange, Chris Chalk, Shea Whigham, and Justin Kirk. It’s infuriating that HBO shuttled this gem off to Monday nights when it had the Sunday timeslot last season, showing little to no confidence in what has to be an expensive returning series. Bringing it back without any significant fanfare on no man’s land Monday was a major blunder. This should have been a no-brainer to follow “Last of Us” and build up an audience with the best lead-in available. With no unlimited ballot, Emmy acting nominations aren’t guaranteed to anyone, but I’ll keep in Rhys and not completely rule out Raci in the John Lithgow slot. The season previews looked fantastic, so I’m looking forward to a great second season.

    Agreed, I loved this premiere and hate that HBO shifted it to Monday after being off for almost three years. I’m so glad we’re in the courtroom more. It was very beautifully shot too, and I could see everything which seems like a lot to ask for these days. I hope Matthew is able to make it in, but I’m not sure who he potentially knocks out. Jeff Bridges?

    Loved the first episode, it was glorious, the directing was very good on this one, quite showy but effective. Rhys is amazing as always and I hope he gets nom #2 for this role. Paul Raci was fine but didn’t do much yet.

    I agree with Atypical’s comment about the little promotion and caring HBO is taking with this one, it deserves better.

    Have y’all watched the original 1950s series with Raymond Burr? Just curious

    Once there was only Dark. If you ask me, the Light's winning.

    Current gut feeling that one of the genre guys misses out, either Pascal or Considine. Bridges has both Globes & SAG nominations for “The Old Man” plus veteran status/Oscar winner.

    We’re getting into the meat of the season now with the (wrongfully) accused Mexican Gallardo brothers arrested for the murder of Brooks McCutcheon, and Perry Mason finally taking on the case. The audience knows that Mason is in his true element with criminal cases, not civil work, but I did like how Perry and Della managed to hoodwink that greedy grocery owner client to fund their real legal work. I’d rather see Mason channel his brilliance in the courtroom getting the bad guys to confess on the witness stand and giving amazing summations than just being a perceptive PI, but this reboot has different aims versus the original. The period detailing is absolutely superb, and I’m excited to see where things go with the gang back together again. First episode with Hope Davis, who had great chemistry opposite Juliet Rylance. They’re really upping the queer element of this season. Also nice to see Chris Chalk get more to do, since sometimes he felt like an afterthought last season. There was a subtle scene where Perry and Paul tried to get taxiboats to the Moroccan, and the cab guy only lets Perry on the boat. Paul had to take the employee taxi with the black and brown folk. In the height of the Great Depression, with those two men in likely similar poor financial constraints, we can’t forget the racism that was still rampant in the era. Hopefully, Brooks’s murderer isn’t as obvious as they’re alluding to, but we’ll see how that goes.

    Very good episode, Hope Davis is everywhere these days, she’ll be on Succession again too.
    Love Perry discovering the truth at the ship and making his way out with a speech, classic Mason. I also loved the quick little scene at the court, I feel like the show is at it’s best when focused on courtroom scenes.

    Matthew Rhys is so damn good on this role.

    Loving the new season!!! And yes, Hope Davis is a wonderful addition to this show, eating up all those scenes! I hope she and Rhys can get nominations.

    I wish more people cared about this show because it has such a deep bench of actors and would 100% be worthy of a sag ensemble nom. Even when you take away the leads (that Matthew and Juliet scene at the end was great) you have Paul Raci, Hope Davis, Jen Tullock, Shea Whigham, Katherine Waterston etc adding so much this season.
