I did this poll a while back but I thought I’d do it again to see what people thought or if anyone had anything to contribute to it because I was trying to rank the likelihood of the Comedy Series nominees in 2021 if Maisel and Barry returned on time and whilst I initially was going to put Maisel first due to its possible win this year, its SAG near sweep and the possibility it was second in 2019 I started to have doubts as to whether it was second in 2019.

FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel pretty easily, I think, with Barry in third and Veep in fourth.

I’m pretty sure the Marvelous Mrs Maisel was second in series and directing. Maybe even actress.

Voted The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, but we actually got simulations without Fleabag at both DGA and WGA (with The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Veep still nominated) and Barry won both of those.

Maybe The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was second in the actual vote, but maybe Barry was the second choice of the Fleabag voters.

Barry. It was nominated both in writing and directing unlike other options.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. And Russian Doll was possibly ahead of Schitt’s Creek

Russian Doll crumbled at the guilds for some reason.

This is why I am confused. I voted Maisel too due to its 8 wins.

I’m pretty sure the Marvelous Mrs Maisel was second in series and directing. Maybe even actress.

I think Julia Louis-Dreyfus was second in actress but narrowly ahead of Rachel Brosnahan. I think JLD just crumbled at the winter awards because Veep bombed at the Emmys.

Russian Doll crumbled at the guilds for some reason.

I think it was because the show reached its peak hype during Emmy voting and it just didn’t win anything. When you think about it all the shows that didn’t win anything on the Comedy side (apart from Dead to Me and Schitt’s Creek who possibly built buzz up after they were surprisingly nominated) kind of crumbled (The Good Place being one of them).

I’d rank it like this :

    1. Fleabag
    2. Maisel
    3. Barry
    4. Veep
    5. Russian Doll
    6. Schitt’s Creek
    7. The Good Place

I see that the consensus is that after multiple wins Veep wasn’t even in the top three for its final season which had aired near voting. This is validating that Silicon Valley will not even be nominated this year.

I voted Maisel despite how unusual it is to win without a writing nomination. I think Modern Family is the only recent case?

I still can’t believe Maisel managed to win 8 again, particularly given it competes against dramas in some categories. I remember there was a year where Veep only won Series, JLD and Casting. Maybe it shows we’re overthinking things and voters will go back to Maisel for as long as they can.

I still think Barry would’ve won if Fleabag hadn’t blown up as it did. Barry was getting a ton of Fleabag-like buzz prior to Fleabag, because of it’s time slot after Game of Thrones. Not to mention all of the nominations it got.

Sorry but anyone not answering The Marvelous Mrs Maisel despite it taking almost all the acting categories in existence, sweeping the techs and taking cinematography over GoT in its final season is simply wrong

I forgot about the SAG win. You are both probably right. Maisel probably would’ve won.
