Did you liked The Affair? I saw the first season for the first time ever yesterday and I loved it. Incredible acting from the 4 leads especially Wilson

Maura Tierney really should have won that drama supporting actress Emmy for season 2 in 2016.

FYC: Better Call Saul and The Good Fight in all categories including Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

I love the concept for the Affair, it’s really a treat seeing the differences between the two perspectives, and I agree the performances are amazing. I never got around to season 5 but I think the show gets progressively worse as it goes along, I think maybe it should’ve been a miniseries. Also interesting because I feel like it was one of Showtime’s few successes in a time when they were mostly running on late seasons of past hit shows (walking dead, shameless, ray donovan). I think definitely worth watching until you start to get frustrated, which might not happen, but I remember season 3 in particular felt kind of aimless.

Yeah. Huge differences. I thought that was very interesting. He remembers her as a femme fatale and in his memory she initiated The Affair. She remembers it very different. That made me think. I’m a heterosexual man just like Noah and, maybe, I remember my ex girlfriends wrong. In that case, the truth is impossible since I and the rest of the World remembers our past in different ways

Show never really reached the level of season 1. Which makes sense with all the drama that happened behind the scene. Rest of run was good; just not as good as season 1.

As everyone says, the first season was very good. It stayed watchable for at least another season or two but I think it lost me around season 4 and I definitely never watched season 5.

I think what killed the show is that once they wrapped up the murder mystery, the whole concept of the competing version of events sort of lost it’s justification because no one was being interrogated anymore. It started to make less and less sense why we were seeing the different perspectives of the same story. They also shifted the focus more and more towards the Noah character as the seasons went on (something may have been going on behind the scenes with Ruth Wilson based on how she left) and he just wasn’t a compelling enough character to carry the show without Allie as a foil. They tried to up Helen’s presence, and Maurna Tierney was great (as was Joshua Jackson) but by then the show was so far from it’s original premise that I just don’t think they had a handle on what it was anymore.

I loved the first two seasons, the third was awful and the last two were watchable enough. The acting was fantastic. It was really disappointing (but not surprising) to learn about the reasons why Ruth Wilson left the show. Ironically I think her exit episode was fantastic, it left me devastated.

Say it louder for the people in the back!

Probably a result of me dropping the show/not keeping up with TV news as much when it aired, but I’m only just learning about the Ruth Wilson thing now. I shouldn’t be surprised but it’s still so disappointing. I’ve been enjoying her a lot in His Dark Materials, I hope that set has been treating her better.

Also I second what nkb has to say, the show just couldn’t make it past its original premise, I could never care enough about Noah for him to carry the show on his own, and as good as all the actors were there just didn’t seem to be much of a plot.
