The point is that it isn’t a limited series. I am surprised to see people who constantly complain about category fraud not be bothered by this.

Yep but at this moment season 2 hasn’t started production. Technically that renewal could fall through. S1 was intended to be limited. Maybe S2 has to go drama.

I don’t necessarily agree with it (but I also have given up being angry about category fraud, they all do it. If the awards bodies allow it, que sera sera).

I feel like I missed the part where Jennifer Coolidge was announced to be returning for season two of “The White Lotus” as Tanya. Everything I read just said she was coming back, but I did see some publications infer that the character was coming back, but everything I saw from HBO didn’t imply she was playing the same character, in which case Coolidge and the show itself should be submitted in the limited/anthology series category at all awards shows.

Yeah that’s what I am curious about as per my previous post (quoted below).

This should make it ineligible (unless Coolidge returns with a totally different character).

Yeah that’s what I am curious about as per my previous post (quoted below).

Everything reported says something to effect of this line :

“HBO isn’t commenting, but multiple sources confirm”

    So it is not gospel.

“Noone is commenting but we hear Coolidge is in talks to reprise her role, a wealthy, unstable woman, recovering from the death of her mother, traveling alone to the hotel, looking for love and in desperate need of a massage, per HBO’s official character description.” — Deadline

“In an interview with TVLine, White noted that he wanted a couple of the characters from Season 1 to make an appearance for the second round, but having all of the characters come back on the same vacation wouldn’t make much sense. Coolidge’s role as a repeat White Lotus property customer, however, is fitting.” — Variety

She is “in talks to return” though which already suggest this isn’t something that has been confirmed.

Which happens a lot, falls through, and we don’t hear about it.

Fair enough. The headlines were unsurprisingly misleading.

I’m sorry if I was sounding a bit harsh. I guess I’m just without official confirmation of Coolidge’s return as the character I’m willing to give HBO the benefit of the doubt here (it wasn’t long ago where we had “reports” of a second season of Bodyguard heading into production that were debunked).

It’s becoming a trend recently that as soon as a HBO limited series (non-historical) becomes a hit, talks start of a second season, only to fall through most of the times (although it does materialise some times).

If it stumbles in presence of the new competition at BAFTA via the new rules, maybe they’ll change their decision.

(also, really diverse list of people being FYCd here.)
