It doesnt matter. There is no way in the world that it will get that many noms… At best, “Succession” will get 3 individual noms and ensemble.

Anyone thinking Succession is getting 6-8 noms is inhaling hyperbole that this show is the biggest thing on the planet.

SAG have literally nominated five HBO people in continuing series total (Kaley Cuoco, Peter Dinklage, Thandie Newton Larry David, and Julia Louis Dreyfuss) since 2015.

It’s probably worth mentioning that this time last year The Queen’s GambitThe Crown season 4, Bridgerton and The Undoing hadn’t premiered yet. We may be near the end of the year but anything can still happen at least nominations wise.

    FYC:

"The Good Fight" and "The Other Two" in all categories.

I’d be kind of shocked if Michael Keaton doesn’t happen here for Dopesick. He’s terrific in the show and it’s a really baity role. He’s also Michael Keaton lol.

    He’s very very good
Giving Bartlett a run for his money in my personal awards so far.

I think it’s a Star+ binge outside of the US in early Nov so will check it out, quite a few people have said he and Dever are excellent to me outside of this board too.

Obviously no one here’s thinks Succession is getting 6-8 noms, in fact we were laughing at the expert predicting that.
It can go from 0 to 4 IMO, wouldn’t shock me if they snub the show again, but i don’t think they will since they did that before the Emmys, anyway.

In a perfect world, Dever would be happening everywhere too.

I think the apt comparison for Succession at SAG is VeepVeep was ignored for its first season and only broke through at SAG after it won 2 acting Emmys for season 2. Both are arguably too niche for SAG’s sensibilities but they both kept growing (or in Succession‘s case is keeping on growing) to a certain point where it’s almost impossible for them to be ignored here.

Of course there are a few minor differences between them. Succession arguably has two (if not three if you count Snook) leads whilst Veep had one clear one but I guess what I’m trying to say is that I think its finally ripe for a breakthrough here although I still think it could only win one SAG award and still be the Emmy frontrunner. It can win drama actor and lose ensemble to Squid Game like Veep did with Orange is the New Black or Cox and Strong could lose drama actor to Billy Crudup and the show takes ensemble and nothing will be really different about its chances at the others guilds and the Emmys.

I think Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong are completely fine, because the show revolves around them and Strong gained more visibility by being on the ballot for SAG Ensemble winner The Trial of the Chicago 7

I don’t feel this confident with Sarah Snook, though. I can easily see Uzo Aduba getting namechecked just like it happened at the Emmys, or The Morning Show getting three nominations. Still going to predict Snook.
