It’ll be Snook vs. Aniston.

Sarah Snook has the show and visibility. MJ Rodriguez has a tremendous amount of individual buzz and seems like she could be going on a Sandra Oh type of awards path (someone who had a tremendous amount of individual industry and critical buzz and passion is predicted to win the Emmy but loses the Emmy and then sweeps the winter awards in the absence of the Emmy winner). Jennifer Aniston is the incumbent winner, one of the most famous actors on the planet and is in a show that has a disproportionate amount of actors branch support.

It really at the end of the day will depend on who those final two nominees are (are they Margulies/Witherspoon? Smith-Cameron? Elisabeth Moss and Melanie Lynskey?) but I’m leaning towards Aniston right now because she doesn’t strike me as someone who seems to be sharing a bloc of support with anyone else. Just like Jason Bateman last year when he won over Josh O’Connor and Rege-Jean Page, Olivia Colman when she won the Emmy over Emma Corrin and MJ Rodriguez and Zendaya when she won over Linney and Aniston. It’s always easy to assume that a vote-split can only occur with people from the same two shows in acting categories when really at the end of the day the appeal a performance has and the type of performer one is can have a considerable impact.

My fear here if both Snook and Rodriguez are nominated is that they both seem like people who share similar types of voters. Younger voters, more progressive voters… Aniston on the other hand is the classic case of the beloved veteran who has a lot of appeal amongst older and more conservative voters. Of course Snook and Rodriguez could just be too far ahead of their competition, Margulies could bite into Aniston’s “veteran vote” if nominated and The Morning Show might just be too weak for Aniston to repeat but I just feel like whilst both Snook and Rodriguez have had their momentum kick started, support for Aniston hasn’t dissipated completely.

FYC:

"The Good Fight", "The Other Two" and "Station Eleven" in all categories, Sarah Lancashire ("Julia"), William Jackson Harper ("Love Life") and Luke Kirby ("The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel")

I’m pretty sure Jeremy Strong is winning, i think he’s (sadly for me) way too far ahead of Brian to cause vote split, will SAG give Succession a duo win tho with Snook?

FYC:

"Succession" and "Severance" in all Drama categories;
"Ted Lasso" and "The Great" in all Comedy categories;
"Station Eleven" and "The White Lotus" in all Limited categories + Ethan Hawke for "Moon Knight".

Jeremy is definitely sweeping as he should!

If a Succession male actor wins it will most definitely be Strong. I do still think Jung-jae could still upset here purely because of how popular Squid Game is but I’ll probably predict Jeremy because momentum.

If all three of Brian, Jeremy and Kieran culkin get nominated, the vote split will be too substantial and I think Billy or an actor from Squid Game might take it.

The only locks at SAG are Jason sudeikis for Ted Lasso and Kate Winslet for Mare as Julianne nicholson even if nominated will hardly pose a substantial enough threat of a vote split. I can still see Jean lose to Hannah waddingham from Ted Lasso.

Joe, how is the guild reacting to Reservation Dogs and The Kominsky Method?

I think that they will snub Pose entirely for a third year in a row.

Remember the time when we were wondering if Jean Smart will get in for Mare? How times have changed and now we’re not even sure if Julianne Nicholson will be able to get in.

Competition is unbelievable I am still sad that Impeachment might get shut out entirely (which I am predicting).
