Kate McKinnon, bitches! She swooped back in like a boss who hasn’t been gone all season long. She saved this episode from being a snoozefest, particularly the Dr. Fauci cold open, the lonely woman short (best of the episode), the lounge singers, the living Christmas cards, and the hotel ladies. It’s already a tape submission for her. Billie Eilish was much better than I expected. I’d say her highlights were her two musical numbers. That’s all well and good when you’re only the musical guest, but for that and host, not so much. Impeccable stage presence though. The set design for “Happier Than Ever” was superb, which also makes me reconsider a song I found to be one of her lesser, meandering efforts. Get that Grammy campaign in full gear, Miss Eyelash! I liked that her whole family was there supporting her, and of course FINNEAS was there, b/c where else would he be lol? Both of them slayed the hell out of those songs and continue to grow in leaps and bounds as performers. His sketch cameos were fun too, especially the last one. One last thing: stop cutting the Please Don’t Destroy guys, Lorne! This last one was an absolute riot and deserved the airtime! It would have served the episode far better than wasting four minutes with a Kyle Mooney-penned sketch.

I anticipate one of Tom Holland, Zendaya, or at least Andrew Garfield is going to host SNL next month. I can’t believe the first two haven’t done so yet.

Tom Holland has been asked about this and said he is afraid his dyslexia would make it hard to read the cue cards.

Saturday Night Live will tape without a live audience on Saturday as COVID-19 cases linked to the omicron variant continue to surge in New York City and throughout the world.

The venerable NBC comedy show announced the decision to its social media channels roughly eight hours before the episode featuring host Paul Rudd and musical guest Charli XCX was scheduled to film. Additionally, the episode will feature a “limited” cast and crew, per the statement.

“Due to the recent spike in the Omicron variant and out of an abundance of caution, there will be no live audience for tonight’s taping of Saturday Night Live and the show will have limited cast and crew,” the show’s message read. “The show continues to follow all government safety guidelines in addition to a rigorous testing protocol.”

Chris is this something you asked him? I’ve heard him mention anxiety about reading things on live tv due to his dyslexia, but nothing specifically about SNL and cue cards (although one could logically infer).

Charli XCX posted a message to her Instagram account announcing she would no longer perform during the episode “due to the limited crew at tonight’s taping.” The singer wrote that she was “devastated and heartbroken” after she and her team “worked so hard all week alongside the snl team to bring the most amazing musical performance to life.”

She added, “I am currently safe and healthy but of course very sad.”

The show has yet to announce whether the episode will feature a replacement musical guest.

Obviously last minute circumstances completely changed what they were able to do, but would not have predicted a week ago that a Paul Rudd ep would be more disliked than a Kim K ep on imdb.

E for effort, but the better move was probably to air a repeat episode.

I wonder if they’ll get Lady Gaga to host in the run up to the Oscars.

It’s possible there are no new live regular episodes until March. They will find it difficult to produce live shows in January. February was already a wash due to NBC coverage of the Olympics.

I was convinced she might be in November to promo House of Gucci, but fear the ship may have sailed. I would also predict Kirsten Dunst. But yeah, we’ll see if any live episodes happen.

Also delayed post, but Aristotle Athari as Angelo is everything to me. I hope SNL utilises him properly in the years he’s there.

Any guesses on the next hosts announced? Here are mine (they usually announce three at a pop): Lady Gaga, Will Smith, and John Mulany
