So many shows fall into more than one category making it hard to determine which genre category it has the best chance of performing in for submissions. Surprised to see that BETTER CALL SAUL would fall in the drama category given its humorous content.  I love SHINING VALE which is a true hybrid show with Courteney Cox and Greg Kinnear (+ Mira Sorvino as a…. ghost which is fun). Calls itself a Comedy Horror but it’s also a drama. Doesn’t seem to be getting love from Emmy peeps, and I would guess it could be that they don’t know what lane it belongs in.

Could there be a world (soon) where these genre-bending shows get to either submit to multiple categories or get their own? Seems like this is where we are heading.

Honey no, 3 genres is already too much, imagine creating new ones.

I concur. It’s more like there shouldn’t be genre categories at all…

No although there should be a jury to decide genre placements of shows on the whole.

Everything good is hybrid and always has been. That doesn’t mean it can’t fit into one category more than another.
