This has been the question in my head today – which shows have been the best “breeding grounds” for future repeat (Primetime) Emmy nominees?

i.e all five of the Friends cast nominated for Primetime Emmys have been nominated again since if I’m not mistaken, Channing, Janney, Whitford and Parker have gone on to repeat after The West Wing. Are there any shows with more? What’s the best example in the last decade or so?

    haha it’s OK I’m tired.

I mean for instance that Elisabeth Moss is a repeat nominee from Mad Men because she went on to be nominated for The Handmaid’s Tale?

I think they mean nominees from a show that go on to have nominations for other projects in the future, not the same one.

Six Feet Under has 7 if we count guest: Conroy, Griffiths, Hall, Clarkson, Taylor, Cromwell and Bates.

The West Wing (8) – Alan Alda (30 Rock/The Blacklist), Stockard Channing (Out of Practice) Allison Janney (Masters of Sex/Mom), Mary Louise-Parker (Angels in America/The Robbers Bride/Weeds), Matthew Perry (The Ron Clark Story), Martin Sheen (Two and a Half Men), Oliver Platt (Huff/Nip/Tuck), Bradley Whitford (The Handmaid’s Tale/Transparent)

I find it fascinating that in spite of receiving a total of zero acting Emmy nominations during its run that four Gilmore Girls cast members have received nominations (Bledel, Borstein, McCarthy and Ventimiglia) for other projects since and that three of them have so far won Emmys (and only one of them was for Maisel). Of course they haven’t been nominated just because they were on Gilmore Girls but it will be interesting to see if the trend continues this year and if Kelly Bishop gets nominated for Maisel or if we’ll see Liza Weil and Lauren Graham turn up in the future if they end up being in the right vehicle. I do wonder if Weil might have turned up in guest for Maisel had she been submitted by Amazon for season 3.

    FYC:

"The Good Fight" and "The Other Two" in all categories.
