Plot: Kansas native Sam (Bridget Everett) feels out of place in her hometown but singing helps her discover a community with a group of outsiders in this comedy inspired by Everett’s own life.

    Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AReWFGoUmHY

Rated 87 with 11 reviews on Metacritic. Premiering today on HBO after the new episode of The Righteous Gemstones. It looks like that kind of human show that I will love.

All the actors in Pachinko, especially Yuh-Jung Youn and Minha Kim.
    Britt Lower for Severance.

Honestly cannot remember the last time I watched a whole season of television in one sitting in one evening but here I am! In a sense perhaps this being a 7 episodes x 22 mins comedy makes it a somewhat easier watch (it has the equivalent duration of a 2 and a half hour film) but even then I don’t think I would have watched it so quickly if I wasn’t so gripped by the character building and Bridgett Everett’s revelatory central performance. This honestly felt much more like going through an experience than watching a television show.

    FYC:

"The Good Fight", "The Other Two" and "Station Eleven" in all categories, Sarah Lancashire ("Julia"), William Jackson Harper ("Love Life") and Luke Kirby ("The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel")
