I think I’m out, it’s the worst ever case day of the pandemic here and political maneuvering galore. This is something I need to come back to when things aren’t so dire

Yeah I’m feeling the same. I really do want to watch this (the cast looks excellent) but this just feels too close to home. Perhaps I’m being a bit hypocritical because I binged all of The Leftovers last Christmas but the pandemic has just had a horrible effect on things here in pretty much every level this year and I feel like the realism here might feel a bit on the nose.

Yeah, but that was a year ago with vaccines slowly trickling in. Nearly two years in as an immunocompromised person I am very tired and very over everything. I’m sure this is terrific if I could get through it.
ReplyCopy URLDecember 23, 2021 at 10:48 am #1204675764I’m a week late because HBO Max just released the first three episodes here today, but this show is fantastic so far.
Mackenzie Davis is fucking phenomenal and the score by Dan Romer is just a work of art.
It sucks that this isn’t on Netflix, because it would be a HUGE hit. HBO Max sucks in promoting their original shows (Hacks was lucky that it was something that hit all the sweet spots with industry) and this is sadly going to be under the radar.
ReplyCopy URLDecember 23, 2021 at 2:33 pm #1204676130This show is so good. It’s like this strange mix of The Leftovers and Watchmen. Really curious how everything will tie with each other. Also, I personally don’t think it’s a hard show to watch as the show’s virus is not similar to Covid at all. The show mainly takes place at 20 years after the pandemic where it’s no longer a threat to survivors.

Yeah, I know, I’m hoping I can get back to it, but at the moment COVID is very front and centre where I am as opposed to a background factor.

Hope it maintain momentum with the time jump, already missing the young actress who played Kirsten.ReplyCopy URLFYC:

Impossible to watch the third episode and not get your heart broken by the SENSATIONAL performance by Danielle Deadwyler. She deserves to WIN, but her storyline is not in the main timeline (and not related to the main storyline of the show as whole) of the show if this gets any awards traction she will get overlooked.
Gael Garcia Bernal and Mackenzie Davis are also amazing, to each their screentime.

Definitely Lori Petty.

Mackenzie Davis for sure. But it’s really an exceptional cast. Bernal, Deadwyler, Patel, Lawler would be totally reasonable as nominees also.
January 3, 2022 at 4:51 pm #1204695189THIS SHOW IS SO FUCKING GOOOOOOD, I’M ON EPISODE 4. IT’S LIKE WATCHMEN MEETS LEFTOVERS, AND YES I’M SCREAMING BECAUSE IT’S THAT GOOD.
