That was my point with the back on track
I love season 3 but it was nowhere near the level of excellence of the first 2.

I wonder if we’ll have more ties like we did this year. I assume two of the Ted Lasso actors and someone else tied hence why we have 8 slots in supporting actor.

I don’t understand how there were ties. Like… there are hundreds in the actors branch… how would there have been an EXACT tie?

I think you’re underrating SNL’s cast. SNL has gotten someone into Comedy Supporting Actress all but one year since 2008 (when the cast started competing in the comedy categories). The only time it missed was 2013, back when there were only 2 main female cast members after Wiig left but before McKinnon, Strong, and Bryant were promoted to the main cast. I think either Nwodim or Fineman is going to make it pretty easily next year. Honestly, both could make it. SNL has gotten 2-3 supporting actresses in all but 1 year since 2017. I also think Kenan Thompson should be able to make it back in assuming he’s still on the show.

Also, I think you’re underrating the What We Do in the Shadows cast a bit. It could take time for the actors to warm up to it, but it also feels like something primed for a massive awards breakout next season.

I don’t understand how there were ties. Like… there are hundreds in the actors branch… how would there have been an EXACT tie?

It makes no sense. And I still don’t get what happened with the directing categories to somehow cause there to be 7 Comedy Directing nominees but only 6 Drama Directing nominees, which should have been impossible.

Eh I don’t know. I would love to see the actors nominated (Berry, Demtriou and Hamill were robbed last year) but the show really should have performed better than it did at SAG. There’s no excuse for it missing for a newbie like The Great there.

Unless it ends up being the frontrunner for comedy series/ a top 2 contender or is nominated at SAG, I’m not going to consider anyone from the show strongly aside from the two supporting men and Berry (I might slot in Natasia Demetriou if Schmigadoon doesn’t go anywhere but really she should go supporting like Sarah Snook did). It’s a competitive field and What We Do in the Shadows could very well be another Fargo in that it’s respected by the actors branch but not loved very much.

Ah, ok. I’ve just been sort of assuming that Strong, McKinnon, Bryant, and Davidson are leaving and the rest are staying.

I’m just saying that I think Berry and Demetriou making it is more plausible than you think. The show definitely should have done better with the winter awards last year though (missing SAG, the DGA, and the Golden Globes wasn’t great), so you may be right.
