Probably not an awards contender but Netflix have now dated their fourth limited series thus far this season with True Story starring Kevin Hart (in a dramatic role) and Wesley Snipes.

It’s interesting because last year they only submitted three limited series and the year before four altogether and they still have Inventing Anna and Anatomy of a Scandal coming later.

FYC:
Picture: Passing, The Power of the Dog, Shiva Baby, Spencer
Director: Jane Campion, Rebecca Hall, Pablo Larrain
Actor: Benedict Cumberbatch, Andrew Garfield, Winston Duke/James McAvoy
Actress: Olivia Colman, Kristen Stewart, Tessa Thompson
S. Actor: Richard E. Grant, Troy Kotsur, Kodi Smit-McPhee
S. Actress : Kirsten Dunst/Martha Plimpton/Ruth Negga/Diana Rigg/Anya Taylor-Joy
O. Screenplay: Bergman Island/Mass/Nine Days
A. Screenplay: The Lost Daughter/Passing/The Power of the Dog/Shiva Baby

They did nominate Kevin Hart in short form this year……….

The whole category is female skewing though and inevitably some really good contenders will miss out, so maybe this is strategic.

Didn’t know where to share this,so here. https://twitter.com/bananapeele/status/1439789880616304641?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1439789880616304641%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fonmilwaukee.com%2Farticles%2Femmys-winners-losers-2021 Moses Ingram’s perfect reaction to the producer of The Queen’s Gambit making the sexist comment related to Anya Taylor Joy or the speech.

I wish this were true, but I just rewatched the speech and this moment is actually far before the sexy back comment. Sorry to burst the bubble

Ya I figured that out (and a reminder of how inaccurate information just spreads freely on twitter) ,and since a few friends on the forum had already replied to the it,I just added the phrase “or the speech”. Guess I’ll edit the whole message again. 🙂

Claire Foy to her competition:

God I hope the material lives up to her inevitably great performance. Sarah Phelps is sometimes brilliant (And Then There Were None) but sometimes very very basic (Dublin Murders). Fingers crossed she brings her A game.

Wow Claire looks like she’s on the set of Maisel 🙂

(As an aside I would love to see Foy take on some comedy)

And here is Anya herself in Vanity Fair talking about bringing the sexy back to chess

“We used to joke on set that we were bringing sexy back to chess,” says Taylor-Joy. “We didn’t really think that that’s what people would actually think. I love the fact that people are like, Yeah, I’m going to go play this guy at chess, it’s going to be really hot.” She adds, laughing, “I’m living for it.”

The lack of Pfeiffer mentions when people discuss The First Lady’s awards chances is so confusing to me. She’s a legend. Just because she hasn’t dipped her toes into TV the way Davis and Anderson have recently doesn’t mean we should underestimate her. If anything, I’d be more skeptical of Davis – that casting seems off to me and it feels way too early for someone to be playing Michelle, especially someone like Davis who’s only a year younger than her lol.
