I’m here for Michelle Dockery finally getting her Emmy and that is that

I hope Netflix submit her in supporting and not lead. She’ll be eaten alive in lead but she could easily cruise her way to a win in supporting (that role is going to be one of the baitiest Dockery has ever played if the show is faithful to the source material).

I think, unless Paulson ends up giving the performance of Impeachment (which is possible! She did give the performance of OJ Simpson), that someone like Dockery will be in a good position to benefit from a vote-split. If we’re going by the source material then I don’t think Naomi Scott will provide as much internal competition for her as Shailene Woodley did for Laura Dern or Margo Martindale did for Uzo Aduba. Paulson on the other hand is up against two performers from her own show with just as baity roles.

Sorry I know it sounds like I’m completely biased (which I am lol). I just really hope Anatomy of a Scandal ends up being the perfect vehicle for Dockery to get her overdue win and Miller to at least get her overdue nomination.

That can very easily happen. There are like 7 people who seem to be plausible contenders for Actor at this point compared to like 17 for Actress lol.

That being said I think if Landscapers is as big a contender as we’re expecting it to be that David Thewliss could very well walk away with the win. Maybe Paul Bettany if A Very English Scandal does as well as it did last time and he has leftover goodwill from WandaVision.

I mean, I guess. But Jessica’s role is more baity than his. If they plan to adapt the original miniseries, then Jessica has a more interesting role.

That’s a good point but Merritt Wever and Kaitlyn Dever arguably had baitier roles than Toni Colette in Unbelievable and we saw what happened there. Considering how it has been dated (at least in the UK by Sky who essentially are HBO’s UK partner) for airing this summer, I think Chastain could very well suffer from being lost in the competitive field.

    It’s a different field.
Just this year, Elizabeth Olsen has all the acting on Wandavision to her, yet she has a chance to miss and Paul Bettany is more likely to happen.

I wonder if Julia might actually get snubbed. Double noms are a rarity.

It depends on which British production you are enquiring about.
