The Golden Globes and the Critics Choice made the right choice. Hopefully the Emmys will agree with them.

It's about the chaotic editing in Moulin Rouge!

Especially Critics Choice, it was the 4th most acclaimed series on MetaCritics year end list, among all shows period.

    DGA and PGA predictions.

    DGA

Miniseries: Craig Zobel, Mare of Easttown (Spoiler: Barry Jenkins, The Underground Railroad)
Drama Series: Mark Mylod, Succession – “All the Bells Say” (Spoiler: Lorene Scafaria, Succession – “Too Much Birthday”)
Comedy Series: Lucia Aniello, Hacks – “There is No Line” (Spoiler: MJ Delaney, Ted Lasso – “No Weddings and a Funeral”)

    PGA

Miniseries: Mare of Easttown (Spoiler: WandaVision)
Drama Series: Succession (Spoiler: Squid Game)
Comedy Series: Ted Lasso (Spoiler: Hacks)

The real dark horse at PGA I think is The White Lotus. Both Mare of Easttown and WandaVision feel a bit anomalous as winners here (sure there was The Americans but that swept every winter award there was) whilst TWL feels like the only show in this category that has growing support.

    FYC:

"The Good Fight", "The Other Two" and "Station Eleven" in all categories, Sarah Lancashire ("Julia"), William Jackson Harper ("Love Life") and Luke Kirby ("The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel")

Thanks for pointing The Handmaid’s Tale error out!

    Hacks is Emmy eligible though.

I was cautious about predicting Loki in drama series at the Emmys because of its SAG and PGA misses but it actually seems to be performing rather decently with the guilds. In retrospect the first season of The Mandalorian only got in at 2 guilds.

I’m not predicting it because the field seems rather competitive but if Bridgerton and the new series contenders end up underwhelming and The Gilded Age and Yellowjackets just don’t end up having broad enough support for series nominations, I can see it slipping into series.

"The Good Fight", "The Other Two" and "Station Eleven" in all categories, Sarah Lancashire ("Julia"), William Jackson Harper ("Love Life") and Luke Kirby ("The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel")

Wanted to say that the Directors guild giving all nominations to one show is a disgrace and a blunder.

Honestly, I just found the DGA drama nominations hilarious more than anything else. It just feels like a slight overreaction to say things like disgrace and shameful or whatever when talking about the noms all going to one show because:
    1) Let’s be real, we KNOW this isn’t gonna happen at the Emmy’s
    2) While a few voters may have actually put Succession for all 5 spots on their ballot, I think the more likely case is that voters put 2-3 episodes of Succession along with a couple episodes from other shows on their ballot but not every ballot had the same 2-3 episodes (Joyce explains this as a strong possibility on a Gold Derby episode/podcast)
    3) there’s no doubt in my mind that other shows like The Handmaid’s Tale/Morning Show/etc. will get their directing noms at the Emmy’s (or if not, better nominees like Ozark and Yellowjackets who either weren’t eligible here or didn’t pick up enough momentum yet will enter the conversation instead)

Like, the Crown and Schitt’s Creek literally SWEPT the Emmys the past couple of years and these DGA noms are what we’re going to stay mad about and call disgraceful? (I know people reacted somewhat negatively to those sweeps too but the reaction here to something smaller like the DGA seems even more intense)

Do you guys think The White Lotus would have bumped out one of the Succession episodes if it was submitted in drama?

Not 100% confident about this because The White Lotus has had some weird misses here and there so far, but if one eligible series was able to do it, then yes I think it would have been The White Lotus (if submitted in drama) because it actually captured the zeitgeist and was in the conversation when it was released unlike The Handmaid’s Tale/Morning Show/other shows that were technically eligible here

Why is Mare Of Easttown “The Fathers” above Mare Of Easttown “Illusions” in the prediction odds for ACE Eddie?
