An aspiring writer winning a WGA award for an adaptation of the novel about her life as a writer. Gotta love a full circle moment
I’m not sure what this means because the sentence is so circular. But I do know Maid is not a novel.
March 20, 2022 at 8:36 pm #1204863429• Best Song Written and/or Recorded for Television: Sex Education – “F*** The Pain Away”
This is great but it’s………also a cover of a Peaches song?
March 20, 2022 at 8:44 pm #1204863451Well it keeps losing to Mare of Easttown. I think all that shows is Mare was very close to beating TQG in Series. The White Lotus has still been getting nominated for everything and likely has Writing/Supporting Actress locked up (with a good chance at Directing/Supporting Actor). It’s definitely the frontrunner (which like every other frontrunner, is the frontrunner until something stronger).
Or that the fall competition is weak? It’s not like MoE has been undeniable. It lost the Globe, DGA, SAG Actor and hasn’t won anywhere else for its Emmy winning supporting actors. TWL also did miss both Globe and CC noms. After the guild noms, all of us thought that the industry love compensates for those snubs but that is put into doubt with it losing pretty much everywhere.
TWL isn’t even the clear cut frontrunner from the fall shows. Dopesick has PGA, DGAx2, ACE, Globe, CC noms + SAG & USC wins (WGA is panelled so that snub holds less weight). A case can be made for it to be ahead.

There is no clear frontrunner for Limited at this stage. Guilds have at best given us an idea that we’ll probably see TWL and Dopesick and Maid turn up.
March 20, 2022 at 10:09 pm #1204863579Mare of easttown is way too strong for any series to defeat it. It has won everything and lost only the director’s guild to Barry (obvious), SAG to Michael (he’s sweeping) and Globe to Underground railroad (which as much as I hate to say it was more of a tokenism to show the globes are not racist. This shows how close it was to defeating The Queen’s gambit. The show is strong.

March 20, 2022 at 10:23 pm #1204863618SAG to Michael (he’s sweeping)
I agree Keaton is going to sweep. It’s really the only thing I feel pretty confident on for limited currently.
March 20, 2022 at 10:57 pm #1204863681Well, only 2 shows won anything at those places.
The sweeping by the two is super boring tbh
March 21, 2022 at 1:13 am #1204863753All isn’t lost for “The White Lotus” yet. We don’t know its official Emmy category placement yet either.
March 21, 2022 at 2:16 am #1204863815Interesting how the guild went in completely opposite directions from DGA in both limited categories.
FYC:
"The Good Fight", "The Other Two" and "Station Eleven" in all categories, Sarah Lancashire ("Julia"), William Jackson Harper ("Love Life") and Luke Kirby ("The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel")
March 21, 2022 at 2:47 am #1204863831Wow, I am surprised I came in third for ASC! The Snowfall prediction paid off. I also knew Handmaid’s wouldn’t win this — what a shame — but still predicted the wrong show. ASC can be so bizarre in the TV categories.

They usually skew towards the veteran and if I’m not mistaken are also panelled on the TV side which may be why their results tend to be all over the place. Both of those factors made The Underground Railroad IMO an easy prediction here but it always makes both one hour categories so difficult to predict.

March 21, 2022 at 5:04 am #1204863964The panelled vote is exactly what made me go for Titans over Handmaids., the majority of that episode is shot in black-and-white (it’s set in the afterlife).

It’s going in limited series. There was an news blurb that the Emmys were allowing it to proceed in limited even thought it’s returning with a second series.

At the end of the day there is plenty of other stuff going on (category changing, leads running in supporting). If the Emmys are allowing it so be it.

Came 10th and same. The Snowfall prediction saved me lol.

Should’ve told us sooner 😭
