I don’t see people getting hyped up much about the ceremony. By the way, one theatre person worthy of the KCH is Athol Fugard.December 4, 2021 at 8:17 pm #1204627164
Tonight’s welcome ceremony is when the 2021 honorees get their medals. The actual ceremony for CBS is recorded Sunday night. For Saturday, I’ve seen photos of all 5 attending. Other celebrities spotted so far are:

And tomorrow, I suppose Biden will give a speech for each honoree. If he did that for the 43rd ceremony, I don’t know where to find a transcript.December 5, 2021 at 6:35 pm #1204628887
Update list of people seen either Saturday night or on Sunday’s red carpet. Many of these could be attending and not part of the show, but we’ll see.

I’m glad the presidential address has returned: https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/speeches-remarks/2021/12/05/remarks-by-president-biden-at-the-2021-kennedy-center-honorees-reception/ I missed that with Trump.December 5, 2021 at 9:16 pm #1204629067December 22, 2021 at 8:19 pm #1204674858
Yes we saw that, but not in that order. On TV the order was Joni, Lorne, Bette, Justino, finally Berry.December 23, 2021 at 6:50 am #1204675478
Ah, I was wondering where this thread was! I thought the show started off really well with the Joni Mitchell tribute (although I hated seeing Mitchell looking so frail), then dragged a little with the Michaels (they couldn’t find any SNL cast member from more than 25 years ago other than Kevin Nealon?) and even the Midler (the best part was Manchester by far, but they couldn’t have her sing?) tributes, and then rebounded with Diaz and Gordy (but I’d really like to know why Diana Ross wasn’t there). Even though the KCH will have 2 editions to submit for Emmy consideration this season, I really don’t think that either of these will ultimately make the list of nominees, as the program hasn’t been nominated in 6 years and I feel like voters have moved on.December 23, 2021 at 8:09 am #1204675552
The articles about the KCH said Smokey Robinson performed an original song, but I don’t recall it during the telecast.December 23, 2021 at 8:50 am #1204675600
I LOVED IT.December 23, 2021 at 8:54 am #1204675604

Thankfully, it was cut out.

I think that Francis McDormand, and possibly Joel and Ethan Coen, have reached the point in their careers where they deserve to be recommended, but are not included on the updated GD list.
I wonder if Glenn Close will win a KCH before she wins an Oscar.December 23, 2021 at 12:43 pm #1204675948
