Why do you lump the fine arts (including theatre and jazz) together?

Wayne Shorter already got the KCH in 2018.

If Spike Lee gets the KCH (and why not), his tribute should include “Fight the Power,” “Hell You Talmbout” (which was covered in American Utopia, which Spike Lee filmed) and the step dance from School Daze.

Now that it’s July, the honorees should be announced soon. I’m still aiming for Liza Minelli, Spike Lee, Arturo Sandoval, Cynthia Gregory and Burt Bacharach.

Why did you put the fine arts in one category? And how come there’s no one from opera, ballet, jazz or classical music?

They will not choose an opera singer two years in a row.

My 5 best guesses for this year:

    Glenn Close
    Spike Lee
Liza Minnelli (especially with the Judy Garland centennial)
    Rolling Stones or Queen
    Arturo Sandoval

A couple of other combinations (mixing types of artists) that might be possible:

    Harrison Ford
    Barry Gibb
    Cynthia Gregory
    Flaco Jimenez
    Gladys Knight

    Ruben Blades
    Jessica Lange
    Tommy Tune
    Frankie Valli

Good picks, but there has to be at least one person from opera, dance or classical music. I wish they’d do more than one each year, as used to be the case.
