I remain in denial about the Jumbo/Lindo departures.

Same. I like how they’re leaning into it in terms of plot, though, at least according to the new logline.

Robert King confirms Jane Lynch, Alan Alda (!), Denis O’Hare, and Wallace Shawn are all returning for guest spots this year. Carrie Preston is directing an episode.

The Good Fight is so brilliant when it comes to premieres, other shows should take notes. The writing was sharp and fresh as always, which is not surprising, considering Good Fight has the best writing on tv right now. I loved how they made a recap of 2020 and closed Adrian’s and Lucca’s stories in such a beautiful and complete way, I’m gonna miss them a lot. The Academy better give their guest awards to Lindo and Jumbo!! It’s a very strong start and I’m really looking forward for the rest of the season!

Huge kudos to the Kings for pulling off this challenge of not only wrapping up the unfinished storyline from last season and writing off Adrian and Lucca, but also grappling with the past year. The conceit of the episode was really smart and I love how they touched on a lot in this premiere so that the rest of the season can tackle other things and new stories. I’m so glad Delroy and Cush came back for this episode, and I think they sent their characters off really nicely given they should’ve had three hours to do so last season. Delroy, in particular, had a really nice showcase. The whole ensemble is terrific, but he will be extremely missed. Speaking of, great to see Sarah Steele and Nyambi Nyambi get more to do to start filling the void the others will leave – there’s always been more room to develop their characters and I hope the writers seize the opportunity. Not as strong a premiere as “Alternate Reality,” but that’s an almost impossibly high bar.

I think she does Colbert and CBS This Morning before every season. I love that her whole interview with Steven about The Good Fight was really just about Sondheim.

I loved the premiere. The Good Fight is one of the shows that age very well (unlike The Good Wife). It’s sad that there are not many people watching…

The season 4B, season 5 and season 6A erasure!

It's about the chaotic editing in Moulin Rouge!

I loved the season 5, and that’s it.

Once I twigged the format of the episode and this wasn’t just a very long “previously on…” (which I guess was the format), I loved it. Such a difficult task – wrapping up the three missing S4 episodes, writing out two of its biggest characters, and telling the story of a very eventful year. This was such a good job. Also kudos to post-production, Cush Jumbo was only shooting these scenes about 2 weeks ago. Get her and Delroy their guest noms!

Worried is the wrong word to say, but I guess I’m sorta apprehensive about the season ahead, and I say that because this episode proved how much of a presence Lucca and Adrian are in the show. Filling their shoes is going to be tricky.

Shower the Kings and Lindo with Emmys for the opener!

I agree that it wasn’t as strong an opener as last season’s (which was one of my favourite episodes of television of all time) but I just loved how the Kings took the advantage of the pandemic to incorporate the hanging storylines of last season and give Adrian and Lucca their send offs. I will miss their characters! This is probably my favourite performance of Delroy’s on the show.

Cush’s scenes felt a bit too short? I assume that they wrote in the move to London due to her being unable to fly in to shoot (and hence why they opened with her in a dark room instead of showing the set of Lucca’s flat in the episode)?

I’m very intrigued for the season ahead. The last time Diane tried to set up a female led firm things didn’t end well in The Good Wife/Fight universe haha…

So happy that the show is back!

I don’t know if I have anything to say about “Once There Was a Court” other than it was outstanding. The episode could have been too convoluted due to the whole “fake court” thing yet it ended up being quite a fun piece of satire. Mandy Patinkin was hilarious.

If the show keeps up the quality of these first two episodes it might end up being my favourite season of the show so far and my favourite season of a show this year.

Another great episode with brilliant writing and excellent acting. Loved the additions of of Charmaine Bingwa and Mandy Patinkin, especially the former, I’m so intrigued by her character. Baranski was having such a good time in the fake court scenes lol, she should sweep everything for those scenes alone. This season is shaping up to be the best yet, and I’m all here for it!
