I thought this episode was great, we’ve had three very emotionally intense and action intense episodes so it felt like the right time to have a calmer episode (even though there was still a lot of action and violence anyway). I’ve also seen a lot of people say they feel Joel and Ellie haven’t had any time to bond, so we really need that episode after having episodes more focused on moving the plot forward.
Unfortunately I agree about Melanie Lynskey, I didn’t think she was bad but after a slew of amazing guest actor performances she was a bit less interesting. I also agree on the score, they keep using the main theme for everything and I wish they’d use a few other musical pieces.

ReplyCopy URLFebruary 6, 2023 at 10:12 pm #1205295214If I remember correctly my favourite Lynskey scene is next episode. I, apparently controversially, really liked her character and performance.
But we’re getting closer and closer to my favourite episode (Episode 7), and I’m very excited for people to see it.

So excited for this, I was kind of surprised episode 3 was the only one reviewers highlighted so I’m really glad to hear they did this justice.
Have you seen the whole season, and if so what did you think of the finale? It’s probably one of my favourite sections of a video game ever so I really hope it translates well to television.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 7, 2023 at 10:12 am #1205295906Episode 4 was fine for me. Yes, the relationship needed to expand between Joel & Ellie. Still not loving the writing for her, but better than it had been. I wish they did more to show just how much of a kid she still is. I know times are tough at the end of the world, but a few more kid touches would be nice for me.
Lynskey was fine in her limited role and I have a feeling future will show more. That storyline seems a bit been there/done that to me with other apocalyptic shows. She’s only bad because she’s going against our leads. But, I mean, end of the world, is anyone truly all good/all bad?
But it did seem like there was buildup for next week, which could be good.

I have seen the whole season! I got it as a critic! I loved it, I thought it did the game justice and talked about/expanded on the themes and messages the games convey.
I personally love the seventh episode since it adapts the Left Behind portion of TLOU, which is my favourite part of the game.

which group of fans isn’t?
I am a huge fan of many things, but I always try to not be part of any fandom. Especially if the movie/tv show is adapted from a book (or game).

Other than getting to work with creative geniuses who I respect and admire (Neil & Craig) the thing that excited me most about doing #TheLastOfUs is that my casting suggested the possibility of a future in which people start listening to the person with the best ideas

I am a little familiar with this DLC although I have never played it myself. So this seventh episode will be interesting due to the viewer reaction it receives. I certainly welcome its addition to the narrative of the show.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 10, 2023 at 10:01 am #1205299499Episode 4 was a basically a gameplay. I can understand why people won’t like it, but I personally thought it was pretty good.
I agree the Lynskey thing is unnecessary. Should have put her ever since the first episode to make her more of a character. Also, I’m kinda disappointed they stopped with the prologues, lol. One before every episode would be nice.

If I remember correctly, there’s one more prologue in episode 9.
And technically episode 7 is an entire prologue since they take place like 3 weeks before the start of the show.

ReplyCopy URLFebruary 10, 2023 at 7:29 pm #1205299888Episode 1.05: Wow. It was amazing. Fantastic climax. Great performances by the entire cast. Easily my second favorite of the season after the third episode.
