August 23, 2019 at 6:32 pm #1203036902I love that it’s not your dad’s Star Wars. This looks DARK.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 23, 2019 at 6:52 pm #1203036931I think it’s odd that people seem to be overlooking Disney + in their year-in-advance Emmy/Globe predictions. Assuming it’s good, this show could easily be part of what fills in the GOT vacuum.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 23, 2019 at 7:43 pm #1203036964This looks good, Star Wars is basically the only thing I care about from Disney+. I’m probably more excited for the clone wars revival though. I don’t see emmys and especially globes going for this besides tech categories. At least not right away, I feel like star wars and disney will have to work to overcome snob appeal

Lies. Honestly, with how dark this looks, it can definitely get into the Drama categories next year. Game of Thrones was thought of as a show that could never get into the Emmys before the show came out based on its Season 1 trailer. If GoT and Stranger Things can do it, so can this. And don’t underestimate Jon Favreau as he’s a visual genius. People have been waiting for Star Wars to go dark since Rogue One and no one had the guts to do it. He’s going there with this show. If this gets high enough ratings, it’ll sneak in. People have been eager for a Game of Thrones replacement and this might be it. People just assume because it’s Disney + that their programming is going to be just a bunch of G-Rated nonsense but this trailer proves that that’s not the direction they are headed.

August 24, 2019 at 1:45 am #1203037225Yes, it is. Game of Thrones season 1 wasn’t even a consideration before the show came out and many people were still skeptical it was nominated. Don’t let the fact that it’s Disney distract you from the fact that this might be what the public is looking for.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 24, 2019 at 2:10 am #1203037249This isn’t your average “Disney” show. Bob Iger went all out for this one to be an Emmy Contender. Besides Favreau, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Taika Waititi have also directed episodes for Season 1.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 24, 2019 at 3:16 am #1203037270This isn’t happening at awards except for technical categories.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 24, 2019 at 4:10 am #1203037290I think you guys are being closeminded. But whatevs agree to disagree.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 24, 2019 at 6:37 am #1203037373The way I see it, the show’s gonna have to be damn good to make it into above the line categories, and even then, it could get snubbed.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 24, 2019 at 10:13 am #1203037663Let’s look at it this way – if you heard about a big-budget sci-fi space Western series starring Pedro Pascal, Nick Nolte, Carl Weathers, and Werner Herzog with directors like Jon Favreau, Rick Famuyiwa, and Taika Waititi behind the camera, would you hesitate for a second before declaring it an early Emmy contender?
ReplyCopy URLAugust 24, 2019 at 10:23 am #1203037672I would, everyone is looking for the next game of thrones but these types of shows still don’t do that well with awards. Got, Stranger Things and Westworld are the exception not the rule. Of course that shows they’re becoming more open to these types of shows but I think we’re still at least a few years away from something like this being able to get above the line nominations.
