The Morning Show is not a perfect show and has a lot of flaws certainly but some of the criticism it receives comes across as just so disingenuous. Shiv and Kendall meeting at a fundraiser without catching the attention of the hundreds of people there is excusable because people are not watching that show with the intent of always being critical. As the above user said, overtly focusing on these type of things as criticism is completely pedantic.
How is that even comparable. Shiv and Kendall are (a) siblings (b) not public figures (c) not celebrities. People literally would not care if James and Elizabeth Murdock talked to each other at a fundraiser either.

No that honour goes to Bradley’s brother’s “drug breakdown” at the studio. 🙄

Now imagine if one of them accuses their father of being a “malignant presence, a bully and a liar” who has been covering up sexual assault cases within his company in a live press conference. You don’t think the first open interaction between them in front of other rich people, their peers wouldn’t draw any attention? Ok then..
And of course they are public figures lol. Do you think late night talk shows are picking apart what common people are tweeting?

Witherspoon and Aniston more than likely don’t want such long term commitment and if TMS ends on a third season and Apple tv continues to grow and build an audience, it will be remembered fondly. It’s interesting, the show gets a lot of hate online but I’ve never spoken to a single person in real life who didn’t love it.
I can see then delivering a final season and then the actors will focus on other endeavours. I get the impression Reese really wants a third season of Big Little Lies. And she has 3 romcoms slated for Netflix that she’s producing and starring in.

If they picked another thematic focus for season 3, I would like it to be the relationship(s) between media and politics. But just as a backdrop, with the focus on the characters and the show they produce.

January 7, 2022 at 6:15 am #1204702372Shamefully, I have only just finished season two of TMS. I absolutely loved it.
I think it’s a damn shame that Reese Witherspoon is being so completely overlooked for her work on this series. That her costars are all being nominated for Emmys, Golden Globes and SAGS while she’s being shut out is just unfair. I thought Jennifer Aniston should have won the Emmy for her work in season 1 (I thought Witherspoon should have won in limited for Little Fires Everywhere), but I think Reese was probably my MVP for the second season of TMS. Aniston was terrific yet again, but Witherspoon really got to explore Bradley’s layers and vulnerabilities this go around.
It would suck if both ladies didn’t get nominated for this year’s SAG’s and Emmy’s together. They deserve it.

How is everyone feeling about TMS’s Emmy hopes at this stage?

Right now i only have Aniston, Cudrup and Margulies for noms, Duplass will probably make it too for whatever reason the Academy likes him, Reese has a chance due to her character getting a better and bigger storyline than in S1 (i really felt her as a lead) and Actress seems to have 5 “locks” with Aniston, Comer, Linney, Oh and Zendaya so she could get the 6th place. Even Martin Short with a random Guest Actor nod.
Outside of acting noms, the show is pretty much dead.

It feels like Ehrin was pushed out given that she had been the most vocal about a vision for season 3.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 10, 2022 at 2:37 pm #1204713618Ehrin was the head writer and sadly writing is the weak aspect of this show.. especially in comparison with acting and directing.
Let’s hope all will improve!
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 10, 2022 at 2:52 pm #1204713637Hopefully it’s of similar quality to season one. Season two was beyond disappointing.
If not, they can keep it. I’d rather see these actors not waste their time.
