Kate Winslet is set to lead her fourth HBO limited series, with the premium cabler ordering the drama “The Palace.”
Winslet will star in the series, which tells the story of one year within the walls of the palace of an authoritarian regime as it begins to unravel.
Winslet will executive produce the series in addition to starring. Will Tracy created the show and will serve as executive producer and showrunner. Stephen Frears is attached to direct and executive produce, with Frank Rich also executive producing. Seth Reiss, Juli Weiner, Jen Spyra, Gary Shteyngart, and Sarah DeLappe will also write for the show.January 19, 2023 at 6:58 am #1205253147

I have very low hopes for Lee mainly because a star studded biopic like this might go either way in terms of quality.
I have some concerns too but not about the stars. Cotillard has only a small part in it ( a ” participation” in her own words) The same with Josh O ´Connor ( I even doubt he has scenes with Kate).
But i was disappointed by the last minute change from Jude Law to Alexander Skarsgard.
But what I am more concerned about is that they obviously had difficulties to set up this movie. At one point it looked like the movie was never going to see the light. Kate has been officially attached to it since 2015 ( so maybe years before that behind the scenes) . The production moved from E One to Rocket Science after a few years ( presumably because they didn’t manage to have the Budget they wanted).
What i am more concerned is the structure of the movie .They chose to set the movie on one decade that is less well known and glamorous than Miller earlier life . But they will be flashbacks ( since O Connor plays the son) so that could be tricky . It looks like they struggled with the script frankly .
Plus Ellen Kuras is a highly talented person , and she has already directed before , but it’s her directional debut in motion picture. It looks like she landed the job mainly because she ´s Winslet close friend and that they couldn’t land another director.
I mean she certainly wasn’t attached to it since the beginning or they would have announced it way before .
Hope it’s great though. For Kate and Ellen.
But I’m more excited about The Palace tbh.Not now
