I was apprehensive after reading some of the reviews but it was a great start. Loved the humour and the fast pace. Theo James and Rose Leslie were great together.

Yes that’s what it looks like audience ratings on IMDb and rotten tomatoes seem much higher than critic scores! Episode 2 had a different pace and was really emotional.

4 episodes in and I’m loving this. I agree that it’s not a perfect show, but it doesn’t deserves the panned reviews that it has.

I agree, each episode is different and I loved them all. Especially episodes 1 and 4. Only 2 episodes left and not sure how good the chances of a renewal are!

It’s a good story that’s been beautifully told, but it has two inherent challenges to solve – one of which is more successfully addressed than the other. The first is the ick factor brought on by Henry’s numerous travels to Clare as a youngster as an adult. This caused a stir in 2003, and sensitivities have only grown since then. Henry acknowledges the viewer’s probable discomfort (via a statement from Clare about grooming her My Little Pony), yet queasiness is unavoidable.

I agree, what’s the second challenge? I feel the critic reviews are more linked to the ick factor rather than the actual show.

I  think the critics expected more outrage on that than audiences actually felt. Audiences generally know in these cases that it’s make believe

Well, at least there is the book to know how it ends, but I think another season of 6 episodes would have not been that much. HBO new boss should be afraid of its the streaming service becoming the next Netflix.
