With Friday Night Lights (it started as a movie), American Horror Story, 911, Dirty John, a guest spot in The People vs OJ and now The White Lotus; home girl Connie Britton is quite the franchise starter, isn’t she?!

She’s played the female lead in seven successful television shows. Legend. She and Ted Danson pretty much run television.

Queen Latifah would be a nice add for the cast too.

    Dianna Agron

Yes. Anyone from the cast of Shiva Baby for those who’ve caught up with that.

Pretty much everyone’s waiting for her first Emmy. She is win-worthy for Friday Night Lights season 1, and hell, she’s snubbed even though she received TCA nomination. I don’t know when, but I hope it will happen soon.

Vera Farmiga would be great with the tone of the show.

I’m thinking s2 will have a “bigger” cast so I can see Laura Dern.

I’d prefer if they don’t get any big names in season two.

Haven’t read the entire thread, but thought I’d throw out my (most likely wrong) hypothesis about the deceased.

My number one guess is the husband, Mark. His story arc started with him thinking that he was dying of cancer. He talked about losing his own father at Quinn’s age and has kind of been philosophical about life (to varying degrees) throughout the whole series. I think him finding out he didn’t have cancer is/was maybe just a red herring, and he’ll still die…just in a freak scuba accident or something.

Since Jennifer’s Body had its reckoning a decade after it was released, I would love for Megan Fox to get another good material worthy of her talent.

I feel like it’s gonna be Armand. It really seems like he’s spiraling into the abyss, and it fits that it would end with him dying in some dangerous accident. Would also explain why Jake Lacy is so upset in that opening scene, as their tension clearly lead to Armand’s self destruction and I wouldn’t be surprised if some conflict between them leads to Armand’s death.

ALSO, if he were to die it would explain why Mike White keeps saying that future seasons would have to take place at another hotel. It seems so logical to just have the same hotel, same staff, but new guests every season. But if he plans on completely concluding our main hotel employee Armand’s arc by the finale, it does explain it.

I’ve been thinking the same thing. I don’t understand why a second season wouldn’t be at the same hotel with new guests unless there’s a narrative reason in the finale why that wouldn’t make sense.

I just finished Episode 5, and I think the show is definitely a refreshing idea. I like that it’s character-driven, but I do think the genius Mike White has to come up with a killer finale, because it is going to be hard to wrap all these story-lines.

As of the body – I have no idea, really. It could be Greg, Tanya’s lover, maybe he decides to stay for her and dies later on. That cough attack was not encouraging.

The performances are on fire – Murray Bartlett and Jennifer Coolidge are both brilliant here, but I also like Steve Zahn and Jake Lacy! Britton is a bit of a let down compared to some of the others, but she has her moments too. Molly Shannon also felt like a ‘been there done that’ in her rich white privileged mom character. Daddario and Brittany O’Grady are consistently providing outstanding dramatic moments that should be mentioned as well, while Rothwell is pretty relatable as Belinda. Overall, it’s a strong cast.

I’m not convinced that the Television Academy will touch this, though. They have a way more basic taste. Enlightened was barely nominated for anything. Dern and Shannon got in once and that’s it. Well, I can imagine Molly Shannon getting in for guest if the show is pushed comedy at the Emmys.

It would an absolutely interesting idea to continue in another location. Sometimes I feel like if we stuck at the same place with the idea of doing more and more mysteries there etc. it becomes pretty unrealistic overall. Like you cannot keep having such scandals and mysteries in such luxury hotel. Rich people would stop coming. It’s not realistic. 🙂
