I guess I haven’t quite connected to the vibe on this yet. There were times when I wasn’t sure whether a scene was supposed to be funny or not. But there were great moments and the cast has a terrific pedigree, so I’ll definitely keep going. I will be glad when Connie Britton gets something to do other than look at Steve Zahn’s prosthetic nuts. Count me as someone also impressed with all the things Murray Bartlett was able to do with a stock character. Natasha Rothwell’s Belinda was another example of making a lot out of a little.
I was also distracted sometimes by how obvious the COVID production restrictions were in the final product.
July 14, 2021 at 6:33 am #1204345891I watched the pilot and thought it was perfect. Can’t wait for more!
July 15, 2021 at 1:59 am #1204347374Yup
I’m still irritated that when she finally started getting nominated for Friday Night Lights the writers stopped giving her baity episodes.
July 16, 2021 at 3:43 pm #1204349677Finally catching up and i loved it, Daddario was the MVP for this first episode but i see that they will dive deep into Jennifer Coolidge as well.
I don’t know how to feel about Connie Britton and her family, so far so nothing.
Loved the host and the trainee.Only thing that’s bugging me is this yellow filter, was it really necessary?
Please! These gays, they're trying to murder me!
July 18, 2021 at 12:03 am #1204351324Episode Title: “New Day”
Synopsis: A cautiously optimistic Belinda walks a fine line with Tanya, while Armond brainstorms ways to deal with Shane. After her husband belittles her work, Rachel approaches Nicole for advice. Paula and Olivia lose track of their stash, while a revived Mark attempts to connect with Quinn.
Discuss.
July 18, 2021 at 7:40 pm #1204352238Steve Zahn killed it in this episode. The whole cast is amazing. Also love the score.
I’m in love with this. I love the slow burning.
For now, I don’t think it will be an awards player. Not just because of the release date, but also because I don’t expect this to be a hit among the audience. However, I can see it having a huge word of mouth like Mare of Easttown if the show pays off from the middle to the end.
July 18, 2021 at 8:28 pm #1204352291Probably like a 7/10 right now for me, I’m not 100% engaged with the story, and I find some of the characters uninteresting (and annoying, but I assume that Shane is supposed to come off this way to the audience). There’s definitely some interesting ideas here though, and I like the cast, I’m excited to see where they go with the rest of the story.

Really liked some of the exchanges here, especially Nicole and Rachel’s table scene and Mark’s rambling toast to the family at dinner. That’s the Connie Britton I signed on for, bitches! I hope she gets the material she deserves as the series progresses. Steve Zahn is such a peculiar actor, with some past roles that I’ve loved him in and others I’ve absolutely loathed. But this is one of his good ones lol! The revelation about Mark late father seemed very sitcomy and tonally off. Judging from the previews for next week, it looks like a fine line will be straddled between disbelief and disgust. Armond’s actions are becoming more and more unhinged. As douchey as Shane is, he was clearly wronged, and what’s to be done about that? Should be something. Can’t wait for Molly Shannon’s episode as his mother! Totally over those college mean girls being so shitty to everyone. I would have LOVED it if Tanya had retrieved Paula’s drug stash instead of Armond. But alas, the story must continue on without those great comedic possibilities…

Lol All the characters are supposed to be annoying. That’s the whole point.
This is like complaining that the characters in Sucession and Search Party are all piece of shits.July 19, 2021 at 5:38 am #1204352615I was thinking I might wait to binge this one? Will I lose anything in holding off?
July 19, 2021 at 5:58 am #1204352620If there’s one thing HBO is going to do, it’s that they will create the perfect score to accompany their shows. I am obsessed.
July 19, 2021 at 9:23 am #1204352802I love both episodes released so far. The main title is truly a smash, I am obsessed as well ksks.
It's about the chaotic editing in Moulin Rouge!
July 19, 2021 at 1:33 pm #1204353274This show continues to be a serve. The writing blends anxiety and relaxation perfectly and makes you feel like you’re on vacation too.
