Looks like we have a Music & Lyrics contender with “Memorized” by Taylor Goldsmith and Siddhartha Khosla.

I liked the premiere, it was a longer episode than the usual but the time has passed really fast. If this season is better than the others considerably, I’ll probably still put as a contender for Drama Series at next year emmys.

It's about the chaotic editing in Moulin Rouge!

    This show!
Surprisingly I was interested in all the new characters and after one episode they already feel familiar.
I thought season 3 was great (Vietnam’s arc and Beth story were series highs) but yes the show needed to move on in some way.
And this premiere really looked like the beginning of chapter 2, the one that leads to the series finale (hope the show truly ends with season 6).
If it keeps this kind of quality I hope the show keeps its Drama series slot (sadly it will never win).
It’s almost impossible to pick a MVP but what I can say…Jack speech at the restaurant about Niki monster fear once again brought me near tears.
Milo Ventimiglia created a memorable character and, I don’t know how, I hope with all these new storyline they find a way to let him be, like he’s alway been, the heart of the show.

Jennifer Morrison’s storyline is like every cliched PTSD thing seen in a bunch of other film’s and tv shows. Hopefully the stuff with her Kevin and Nicky isn’t too cringe

What a great episode. It was quite simple yet managed to get me in my feelings. Isaac & Elizabeth are my favorite writers for this show. All of their episodes are dynamite. They touched on very interesting subjects in this one… it felt very classic This Is Us. A great episode for Kevin and in turn, for Justin Hartley.

This makes yet another strong case for Justin Hartley to finally receive some Emmy attention. I’m already interested and invested in where Kevin’s storyline goes this season, particularly how it intersects with Nicky and Jennifer Morrison’s character. Beth and Randall adjusting to Philadelphia and the girls’ growing up was fine. I find that the younger “Big Three” are the least compelling to me, so the pool scenes were pretty useless like they were in season 1. There is only so many times you can play the repetitive note of Kevin being a shitty brother to Randall, but now he’s changed! Young Kate and those mean girls were meh, but as I stated last week, I can’t wait to see how present-day Kate and Toby will navigate raising a blind child. I have a nagging feeling that their marriage won’t last for some reason, but I hope it’s not for this. We already know that adult Jack more than thrives being blind and sells out arenas, so it’s sad to hear Kate blaming herself and wondering if she should have had him or not. Toby coping through exercise is unexpected. I loved the scene with Kevin and Kate in the nursery. Chrissy Metz was stellar throughout. Mandy Moore also did wonders here with little material to work with in both timelines.

Chrissy Metz was at her very best in this episode. Her scenes with Justin are always a highlight. The scene in the nursery where she was instructing Kevin on how to get the best reaction to get from baby Jack when picking him up to hold him was excellent!

Chrissy Metz was robbed of a nomination for season 3, in my opinion. She actually keeps getting better each season so it’s weird to me how she got dropped after season 1.

Asante Blackk is a series regular, and not just a guest this season.

The scenes between Kevin and Nicky were the best parts of this episode. Hopefully Griffin Dunne will receive the guest actor Emmy nomination next year that he should have received this year, unless he goes over the limit. Kate and Toby’s scenes were good. Liked the cranky stroke-victim neighbor guy. This was also a nice showcase for the young kids for a change. Usually their scenes are entirely skippable, but it was good to see them getting along and acting like real siblings, and then showing Jack and Miguel’s friendship deepen. Randall letting that bitchy staff lady go was great, though I detected no lies in what she was saying to him, particularly about Jae-won. Her tone was the killer. Cute twist about Jae-won’s “proposal” lol.
