This season is already  so much better than the last. “Unhinged” was not better than the second installment of “The Pool”- that will be hard to top, but it was incredible in it’s own right. They’re setting up Kevin’s story really well this season, it’s the most interesting to me so far and what the hell was that AA meeting scene with Nicky and Cass LMFAO!?! That laugh was so contagious lol. Loved Kate’s new neighbor. Randall’s story is so far the weakest. Loved Miguel standing up for his bestie and basically loved everything involving the younger actors.

Next week Phylicia Rashad is back. Exciting!

This Is Us is not playing around this season and proving why they have been nominated for Drama Series at the Emmys and deserves to be nominated for Drama Series in 2020.

I am soooo excited about the return of Phylicia Rashad next week.

This show is still sub-par and the dialogue and plot points are laughably bad. Listen to the dialogue next week and you’ll hear how amateurish it sounds. Seriously, no one in real life talks like these people do.

This show is single-handedly ending unemployment in America.

Austin Abrams will recur on the NBC drama in a storyline set in the past.

Kevin got a great episode!!! His stuff was great…the rest I wasn’t feeling. Also, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of bringing a baby to music classes but he was super young so I agree with the neighbor. My grade: B+

What I like about this season is it’s consistency. No dud so far and it already has a better first half than season 3. Kevin continues to be the most engaging plot/ character so far and Justin has given the character so much gravitas over the course of the show.

I’ll admit, I don’t watch this show, but I find it very interesting how GoldDerby has warmed towards it over time, as I recall the first season got some pretty nasty comments on here that the later ones don’t seem to get. I also remember several users hating Justin Hartley at first, while now many people love his performance and believe he’s been unfairly snubbed. I don’t know if it’s because the show’s gotten better or people have just softened on it, but either way it’s nice.

Phylicia Rashad did not have as much screen time as she did in her episode last year, but she did what she could with this. Phylica will probably get nominated and win with a lesser performance compared to last year.

The next episode will be directed by none other than… Milo Ventimiglia so… uhm… that should be interesting…

Really hoped that Phylicia Rashad would have had more to do than this, but I think she’s making multiple appearances this season. I’m enjoying Kevin’s arc so far. I like seeing contemplative and introspective Kevin, since that isn’t shown very often. Justin Hartley has been excellent so far this season. What would he have done if “The Manny” hadn’t changed his life forever? Love Griffin Dunne on here, as I’ve said many times prior. Not sure about Jennifer Morrison yet, as I’m not seeing the chemistry happening between these two characters. I want to see more of the struggles that Kate and Toby have to face raising Baby Jack. The young actress playing teenage Kate is still a standout. I buy into her character’s stasis post-Jack’s death readily, and subtly showing how depression can lead to overeating. Jack was her favorite person in the world. Interesting twist with teenage Kevin at the end! Why was I under the impression that Kevin and Sophie weren’t married until much later on, like late-20s? I hope Rebecca is pissed off just a little bit, but she won’t be.

“Storybook Love” was the best episode so far this season. I didn’t want it to end. Beautiful direction from Milo V.  Fantastic performances by the entire ensemble, Mandy Moore, Sterling K. Brown, Susan Kelechi Watson and Ron Cephas Jones in particular. Rebecca singing brought all the feels. The entire anxiety plot was done so well and I hope they continue exploring more of that this season. This show works best when focused on family and the intimate moments shared by members of this particular family, and less so when focused on external stuff like their workplace (Randall in particular) so I hope we continue getting more of these deep, intimate family moments.
