While today’s episode was a Jack showcase through & through, I believe he’s been a supporting character since the end of season 3
Yeah me too! I figured that would be the case this season, he’s almost certainly a stronger contender in supporting I think.

He is most definitely the lead (in this episode). I support his placement in whatever category will get him nominated and while he could win in Supporting, I think NBC will be submitting him in Lead once again.
He definitely deserves the nom for the final season with this episode alone.

It’s too early to say now with only four episodes aired. This one lead episode would have been plenty for lead actor in the tape system days, but it’s not that time. He’s directing again for next week’s episode, BTW, so I’m looking forward to seeing how he does with that.

ReplyCopy URLJanuary 28, 2022 at 1:12 am #1204756009Supporting Actor is probably going to one of the Succession boys or Crudup, but after this weeks episode I have to say Milo Ventimiglia is the one with all my heart and support for the upcoming Emmy season.

Lead, supporting..this man needs recognition (even if he’ll be more likely in guest actor comedy fo TMMM).January 30, 2022 at 6:34 pm #1204760737Wow. Finally just watched this past weeks episode. If room is not made for Ventimiglia in whatever category he is placed in, I will cry major foul. That performance with incredibly rich and relatable material has Emmy written ALL over it. And god bless Mandy Moore for being an exceptionally giving actress and pulling back and letting Milo take his time and have his moments. And a special shout out for finding the perfect role for camryn manheim to play. Bravo!

Do you know the episode count for the final season? 16? 18?
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 2, 2022 at 9:05 am #1204766125Not a fan of this episode. Kevin was the best part besides Mandy. The rest kinda was just there. My grade: B+
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 2, 2022 at 2:05 pm #1204766901First off, it was Chris Sullivan who directed last night’s episode, nott MV, so bad iMDb! Lots of couple pairings throughout, and most of it worked. Briefly, really like what they’re doing with Rebecca and Miguel’s courtship. That’s another missing piece of the puzzle that might as well be explored before the show ends. The “middle era” hasn’t been covered too much so far this season, so it was nice getting back to that and seeing Hannah Zeile again. And the SLAP! Didn’t expect that, but Kate had it coming. Spoiler alert: it’s not young Kate who will have the biggest problem with Rebecca and Miguel dating. Good to bookmark this with their current relationship with Kate not wanting Rebecca to babysit her kids unsupervised. Deja and Malik’s “controversial news” was fairly standard. She would either be pregnant or want to move in with him. The dinner table scene might have been the highlight of the entire episode. Susan Kelechi Watson needs to land a full-on comedy series after this is over. Superb comic timing like hers needs to be used elsewhere! Randall’s concerns with Deja’s future rang a tad toothless since we know from the flash-forwards that Deja becomes a doctor, so whatever happens or doesn’t happen with Malik, she’s thrived regardless. Kevin going back to see Cassidy annoyed me and felt like filler. I’m glad she shut down a future courtship or hookup b/c she’s so damaged. I can’t keep up with all of Kevin’s randos, but I’ll maintain that Kevin’s “right blonde, right city”/one true soulmate is Sophie, who’s remarried lol. Zoe’s useless, and Madison has found someone else. If not Sophie, then maybe no one. Fogelman said previously that Kevin’s great love story would center around his children. Nicky and Edie … cute. Vanessa Bell Calloway should make a nice cast addition moving forward. No new episodes until after the Winter Olympics.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 2, 2022 at 6:38 pm #1204767372All 5 episodes have been terrific, what a great show, I really hope Emmy voters are watching. It will be so weird for the two fan favorites Justin Hartley and Susan Kelechi-Watson to remain the two cast members without noms…
And Mandy Moore, she does not only has to receive a second Emmy nomination (in a fair world she would have had 5 noms like Sterling K. Brown), she has to WIN. Period.
I was not familiar with Camryn Manheim, I saw that she is an Emmy winner, what a performer, she stole every single scene she was in, what a pro.

Camryn Manheim won an Emmy for Supporting Actress in a Drama for The Practice in 1998. She received another nomination for The Practice in 1999. She also guest-starred in Two and a Half-Men as Berta’s sister back around 2005.
Milo really delivered and I hope he gets nominated this year. Does anyone think that he will be submitted in Lead at the Emmys?
