Hi – I’ll bored in lockdown in Sydney and have been thinking of instances when we had undeniable Emmy winners with competition that could have been equally undeniable any other year/universe. Don’t just post your runner-ups, you have to see your alternatives as also 100% deserving.

Let’s start with 2020, categories where I was 100% happy with the winner and would have been 100% happy other competition won.

    Drama Series:
    – Succession (S2) – winner
    – Better Call Saul (S5)

    Drama Actor:
    – Jeremy Strong, Succession – winner
    – Brian Cox, Succession

    Drama Supporting Actress:
    – Julia Garner, Ozark – winner
    – Laura Dern, Big Little Lies
    – Sarah Snook, Succession

    Comedy Supporting Actress:
    – Annie Murphy, Schitt’s Creek – winner
    – Alex Borstein, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel

    Miniseries Supporting Actor:
    – Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Watchmen – winner
    – Jovan Adepo, Watchmen
    – Louis Gossett Jr., Watchmen

    Awesome thread!!!

I’d say Alex Borstein at the 2019 emmys.
Sian Clifford, Olivia Colman ,Anna Chlumsky, Sarah Goldberg were all win worthy

Also Comedy Actress in 2019. JLD was my favourite and I’m fine with PWB’s win but everyone in that line-up was truly excellent. Applegate, Brosnahan, Lyonne and O’Hara would have also been worthy winners.

Simply one of the strongest acting lineups in Emmy history.

FYC: Better Call Saul and The Good Fight in all categories including Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

I absolutely adore Zendaya’s Emmy win, but ask me to say which is my favorite performance between hers and Laura Linney’s for that season of Ozark, and I think I would probably pass out rather than answer.

Zendaya was an inspired choice. I remember her tape featuring her best acted scene (her begging at the closed door to her dealer-friend). She was my close runner up. In my opinion Laura Linney was undeniable for her Ozark S3 arc.

2016 Lead Actress in a Limited Series/Movie comes to mind. Felicity Huffman was outstanding in the second season of “American Crime” and was my personal pick. Honestly, everyone in that particular lineup could have made a case for winning–an embarrassment of riches.
