Maya Rudolph isn’t funny and picks bad projects because she doesn’t have that many options.

Bill Hader and Barry in everything (2 babka)
The Great - Elle Fanning, Nicholas Hoult and comedy writing and directing

Severance in drama series, writing, Adam Scott for best actor, Ben Stiller for drama directing, and the whole cast in supporting.

She was up for Sandra Oh’s part in Killing Eve and turned it down. I think she’s very picky.

It’s tiresome seeing Euphoria being praised for innovating the teen drama genre and all these Marvel series being dubbed as bold for having television spin offs run concurrent to their films when multiple teen shows and sci-fi series from the 90s and 00s already broke through these television milestones in more groundbreaking and more creative ways.

Skins is everything Euphoria is trying to be.

I think it’s different with teen shows because the audience of wich show in different times will be diverse with a whole other references. It’s normal teen and young adults not having watched previous shows and having a first contact with Euphoria being their milestone of this type of series. I think the stylish directing and cinematography and the high budget of production created this sense in the audience and some critics.

I agree with this, what has probably elevated Euphoria is it occurring in an age of the Internet (that, and HBO’s involvement). It is normal for people of that age to have had a pretty limited level of TV exposure (it’s actually probably more common in this generation – you can see from stats and anecdotally it doesn’t take a genius to work out they’re focusing on a lot of media that isnt’ TV). Zendaya’s great in it but so were the Skins cast and several of the cast of  Dawson’s Creek and Danes in My So Called Life (who, admittedly, got nominated) – and rinse and repeat.

And Netflix releasing a ton of mediocre (being nice) teen shows every month really low the bar for this type of series.

I think that’s not necessarily true of stuff like Sex Education and Heartstopper, but they’re also British shows and I don’t necessarily think teen shows travel quite as well as other shows. Euphoria is also very helped (from an awards perspective) by being set in the location it is. Place and time is crucial.

Admittedly compared to recent “Worldwide” teen hit shows like 13 Reasons Why (Beyond S1) and Riverdale, Euphoria stands out as the much better out of bunch. In the sense of “American Teen show” Euphoria is one of the betters, but not as good as folks made it out to be (S2 in particular). The style (which was outstanding throughout), Zendaya, The DoR-ish acting style does appeal to younger demographic (including folks here in SE Asian who watched it through various ways)

Then you compared all of those to the likes of Skins, Sex Edu, Heartstopper and the End of the Fucking World, Of course it pales in comparison

She turned down the title role in a BBC series and goes with Loot, Forever (cancelled after 1 season) and hosting a baking show, and somehow that’s picky?

And in some cases, doing both of these at the same time (Buffy and Angel).

None of the performances given by the Stranger Things cast warrant awards recognition.

I can’t understand the appeal and I think it’s an extremely boring show that doesn’t know how to have fun with its premise, and any critic will be meet with rage by the fanboys. Reminds of The Walking Dead’s peak between 2013-2016.

I actually liked the first two seasons (though I wouldn’t go overboard with praise), but S3 and S4 have been boring. The writing is really weak, and the characterisation is now falling into the tropes the first two seasons were praised for avoiding/subverting.
